It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas??? It's 70 degrees outside in December!
Well, at least in our classroom it's starting to look like Christmas.
We started by making our own ornaments.
The salt dough ornaments were a little tricky to form, but the kids made some beautiful ornaments.
After baking them, the kids got to work decorating them.
The kids can't wait to bring these treasures home to hang on your trees!
We are also busy making our own Advent wreaths.
Working on different positional words like under, behind, over was something else keeping us busy.
We worked on the positional word under as we hid words under the bowls.
The kids had to guess which bowl the word was under.
Then we wrote down the words that we found.
These little exercises are helping the kids strengthen their hands for writing.
The kids enjoyed taking a small ball and trying to roll it up and down their legs. The kids did a great job with their "pencil aerobics".
The kids also loved finishing up our memory verse art project
by painting with feathers!
Who knew feathers could be so fun to paint with!
Chapel this week was led by one of our half day preschool teachers, Mrs. Stanglein.
She reminded us that although waiting can be hard, what a great birthday celebration we will have at Christmas!
We also got to celebrate these two cousin's baptismal birthdays!
Back in the classroom we were busy talking about how animals get ready for winter, so we helped these bears find their caves.
The kids had to read the word and then find the cave that the bear belonged in.
CVC (consonant vowel consonant) words are something we have been working on.
The kids loved using POP ITS to stretch words out.
The kids worked hard making Christmas trees out of plastic cups.
Sometimes the trees didn't stand very well.
The next step was adding "ornaments" to the trees.
The tricky part was they had to use tongs to put the ornaments on the tree.
Some kids even thought of making a Christmas pattern.
Another tree the kids made was made using paper towel tubes.
The kids had to come up with a plan to form the triangle shape of the tree.
Next they added lights and ornaments to the tree.
They even added a star and a trunk.
Beautiful Christmas trees, each with their own unique personalities. Just like their creators!
The kids discovered using nuts and bolts to make Christmas trees was a little tricky.
Some kids even added tiny "presents" to the trees!
Such clever designs!
It was so nice outside, we had to take some learning adventures out under the sunshine.
We hopped our way through the letter sounds.
The bonus round was putting the sounds together to figure out what words we could make.
I can't wait to see what other Christmas adventures are headed our way next week!
Who knows we might even have a few more days of sunshine!
