Merry Christmas!

We were all lined up for some Christmasy adventures!

Even though it felt more like spring outside,
we were all dressed for a winter wonderland!

We were busy playing all kinds of games including this CVC game of  "X marks the spot".  The kids had to guess which letter was hiding underneath the X.
After reading this funny book...
the kids enjoyed playing a game of hiding the jingle bell.
They hid the bell under a sight word.
The other kids had to guess which word was hiding under the cup.

When they peeked under the cup...

they were excited to see if they were right!
We also played a game with the "little old lady".

The kids had to read the word to see what she ate this time! They couldn't believe some of the stuff she ate!

Then they checked the x-ray to see if they were right.

After reading The Polar Express, we used this little bell to help play a fun number game.

The conductor hid some hot chocolate on the passengers' seats.

Then the conductor rang the bell to wake up the passengers.

The passengers found their hot cocoa

and had to put the correct amount of marshmallows in the cups.
The kids also enjoyed using jingle bells
to make some fun creations with magnatiles.

More crazy adventures popped up

as we were dressed for success

with Christmas Chaos!

In gym class we played a fun Christmas game...

The kids had to run to every corner of the gym to do a Christmas exercise.

They could rest in the middle to "rock" baby Jesus.

In one corner they galloped like the donkey.

In another corner they had to be the angels and jump to sing "Gloria".

The third corner was the innkeeper.  They had to do twist jumps and say, "NO ROOM".

In the fourth corner were the shepherds.  They had to run in place and then jump to tell everyone "JESUS IS BORN!"
It was exhausting, but fun!

Candy cane adventures brought smiles to our faces!
We were  busy balancing candy canes.

We had to see how many little candy canes made one giant candy cane.

It took about 30!
The kids also discovered they could make words using candy cane shapes.

They also had fun playing a spinning candy cane game.

After spinning the candy cane, the kids had to read the word it was pointing to and write it down.

We were also busy using candy canes to hook rhyming words.

The kids are becoming such good readers!

A surprising candy cane experiment had our brains thinking.

The kids had to guess which type of water would take away the candy cane's stripes the fastest.

The kids were surprised how fast the hot water melted away the stripes.

The kids also enjoyed making candy cane designs,
but it was a little challenging not to eat the yummy candy!

It was a sweet success!
It was a very tiring week, but we were still hard at work.
Take a peek at what we were up to as we finished up our week!
Look at these manger scenes...  Do you see the different animals?

They used different shapes to create their own manger scenes.

Mrs. Rouland led our chapel this week.

She brought a helper to share the JOY of Advent.

The kids LOVED having Ruppert help with chapel.
Finally it was time to celebrate Jesus' birthday!

We were so excited to PARTY!

We had some special visitors come help with our party.

We played a game of Jingle Bells.

The kids had to toss the bell into the cup.
I was surprised at how good the kids were at this game!

Next up was delivering some presents!
This little relay race had the kids scooting across the floor.

Even Mrs. Collins got in on the action!
It was a little tricky staying on those scooters!

Watch out there is more to this challenging relay race...

After scooting down the lane

the kids picked out a cube shape for their "present".

Then they carefully used the tweezers
to put a bow on the presents.
The kids had a blast playing this game!
What a great way to finish out our week!

We hope you have a wonderfully, relaxing Christmas!

Here is our version of the Christmas story.  Hope it brings a little smile to your day!
