It was simply a GREAT week!
It was quite the balancing act to get everything done.
After reading about CAT in the HAT and his crazy balancing tricks...
We decided to test out our balancing skills.
We were also learning about rain and clouds.
We read a book by Eric Carle called The Little Cloud.
The kids used some special puffy white paint to create clouds.
Each cloud was a different shape.
We also read a book about Pete the Cat and the Missing Cupcake.
The kids had to match up the right cupcakes to the right cups.
They also played a missing cupcake number game.
The kids had to write down which cupcake was missing.
They also played a cupcake ten frame game.
After rolling the dice...
each cat had to get its own cupcake to match that number.
Tossing "sprinkles" onto the sight word cupcakes was also a fun game.
The kids challenged each other by calling out a word to aim for.
They did a GREAT job of playing the cupcake game.
They each had their own strategy of how to get the "sprinkles" into the cupcake!
It was fun to watch the excitement pop right out of them if they got it in the right cupcake!
Who knew reading could be SO yummy!
We also had a great time with GREEN DAY!
Their first challenge was to try to make the color green!
Green, green, green...
It's the best color I've ever seen.
You combine the colors yellow and blue. You get GREEN! You know it's true.
Yes I love GREEN!
Our green adventures continued with a visit from Miss Julia!
She heard we were going to make green eggs and ham so she stopped by to give us a lesson on sharing.
Unfortunately Mr. Debrick wouldn't let her toss REAL eggs in the classroom
so we practiced our sharing skills with plastic eggs and soft blocks (ham).
The kids were up for the challenge!
Sharing is CARING!
Finally it was time to try out some green eggs and ham.
We were surprised to discover how YUMMY they were!
Some were not so sure about the green eggs and ham.
Others DEVOURED them!
Some were begging for more!
Miss Julia also left us some green oreos.
Everyone LOVED those!
Green Day continued with our pot of gold game.
A leprechaun hid a little treasure under some children's cups.
The kids had to guess which sight word had the gold.
They hoped it was their lucky day!
The kids also had fun playing Miss Julia's game.
The kids drew a number out of bucket and had to toss that many pom poms.
That had to make sure each "plate" and an equal amount of pom poms.
Sharing is CARING!
The kids also had fun creating with green play doh.
We pretended it was OOObleck
and turned it into some wonderful creations.
Our week continued with RAINBOW adventures.
Mrs. Helmkamp stopped by with a yummy skittle experiment.
The kids had fun watching the skittles
turn into a RAINBOW of colors!
The kids also had a blast playing Rainbow KABOOM!
They had to pick out a rainbow stick with a letter
or popcorn word on it.
If they could read it, they got to keep it.
They had to be really careful though...
If they got the word KABOOM, they had to give all of their sticks back!
More rainbow fun came with our dominoes
and magnetic shapes.
They worked hard to figure out how to make different rainbows.
SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW...
They also worked hard mixing paint
to create a rainbow of their own.
We stacked up a few more adventures to end the week.
We finally made it outside to enjoy some sunshine.
When we got outside, they discovered LOTS of water on the playground. They were trying to figure our ways to keep the playground from flooding.
Finally it was time for GAME TIME!
The kids had a great time playing games with each other.
They brought in all kinds of fun games.

We definitely had our GAME FACES on for a fun afternoon.
It is so great to see the friendships that are growing.
