Opposite of boring... FUN!

Take a peek into our busy week!
It was quite the balancing act trying to get everything done...

We were dressed for success on Opposite Day!

The kids thought of lots of opposites on our playground... UP and down.

Over and under.

Happy and sad.

Big rock and little rock.

On and off.

S-l-o-w and fast.

Loud and quiet.

Tall and short.

Open and closed.

Heavy and light.

Girl and boy.
After reading the book, Tacky and the  Winter Games we had our own OPPOSITE OLYMPICS!

We had an opposite obstacle course.
They jumped in big circles

and little circles.

They went in and out of things.

They worked so hard!  They kept wanting to do it over and over again!
Next up was ice hockey without the sticks!

Each ice cube had a word on it.

They had to read the word
and spell it

before they sent it to their partner.

They kept sending the word back
and forth

until the ice cube melted.

It was a cold game,
and the kids got a little wet!

But they had a lot of fun!
Next up was building with big

and little cups!

They made quite the creations!

They worked really hard to make some tall towers.

Some even stayed standing!

They also had fun building with soft blocks and hard blocks.

Next up was the balance act

as they worked with HEAVY

and light!

Mrs. Helmkamp even brought BEEBOT by to help with opposites.

The kids had to pull out a card
and program Beebot

to find the opposite.
This week we also played a really fun game called "UP"!
The kids had to spell their popcorn words
as they hit their ballon back and forth.

Then they had to say the word as they caught it in their cup!

This week we also talked about being a child of God.

We looked at some fetus models.

This baby is about 30 weeks in old.

The kids were amazed at how heavy the baby was!

They were also amazed at what the baby could already do

even though it wasn't even born yet!

At 20 weeks hold the baby can get hiccups

and elbows and kicks its mommy!
The kids couldn't believe how little the babies were

at 12 weeks old!

They couldn't believe how cute the little babies were!

One little boy said, "I can fit it in my pocket!"

As little as the baby is at 12 weeks it still has arms, legs, and a heart beat!

They were a little nervous to see what a baby looks like at 8 weeks.
It was SO tiny!

The most AMAZING part is that God knows this tiny little baby before it is even born.

It was a great reminder of our Bible verse...
I have called you by name; you are mine.  Isaiah 43:1

God knows us by name and loves us before we are even born.

What an INCREDIBLE God we have!

Because we are all different we decided to make some gingerbread men cookies.

After they baked our plan was to decorate them so they would be unique!

We played some fun cookie games while we waited for the cookies to bake.

We had to use the cookies to spell words!

The kids also had fun playing "who took the cookie from the cookie jar" with their popcorn words!

FINALLY it was time to have our yummy cookies!
When we went to eat them,

the cookies had all disappeared!
The gingerbread man left us a note that said he ran away and took his friends too!

We were supposed to look up

and under things too!
He said he would be back Tuesday for some fun!
We decided we better go undercover  to catch him!

We will see what surprises are headed our way next week!
