We were not sleeping on the job this week...
We kicked off Lutheran School's week with Pajama Day!
All kinds of fun pajamas showed up.
Cartoon characters
and book characters.
Princess pj's
and plaid pj's.
Even fancy slippers!
The kids had fun delivering pillowcases with "popcorn" words on them.
They had to match the pillowcase to the right pillow.
Reading with our special stuffies
also made this day a fun day.
May the force be with you!
Buying pajamas was a great challenge
as the kids looked for the pajama
that matched the sentence they read.
We have some super shoppers!
The kids also enjoyed designing their own dream beds.
SWEET DREAMS!
Tuesday our special mission began with Mrs. Haun stopping by...
She had a clue from the GINGERBREAD MAN!
We were ready to go undercover!
The first clue led us to call Mrs. Stanglein.
This clue might be hard; it might be unclear.
This fun lady teaches preschool here!
Her last name starts with the letter R.
Her classroom is not very far.
Her clue led us to Mrs. Rouland's class.
Clue number 3 told us to find Mr. Maddick's window.
His window had some handprints and footprints. It also told us to head to 2nd grade.
Our cold walk led us to another window.
Mrs. Ford's class told us to find Mr. Marolf.
Mr. Marolf met us outside.
His clue told us to go find a Chiefs fan.
Mrs. Holtz stopped us and had clue number 7.
This led us to Mrs. Bernhardt's room.
Her clue told us the Gingerbread man was hungry.
We headed to the kitchen.
We thought for sure the cooks would have seen him.
NOPE! BUT they did have a clue
The clue told us to go outside for recess.
The kids found some clues outside, but not the Gingerbread Man.
All of a sudden a clue appeared on the playground.
The clue told us to go where "two pastors are".
Mrs. Adams met us outside of the church.
She told us the Gingerbread Man was SO fast
and we should head to a man with lots of "keys that don't open doors".
The kids headed up the hill to see Mr. Thoelke chanting "RUN, RUN! As fast as you can. You can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man!"
I'm not sure I've ever had a more determined group of kindergartners!
Mr. Thoelke had clue number 12.
His clue told us to find the Gingerbread Man's uncle.
We stopped by Pastor Rouland's window.
His clue sent us up the stairs to the junior high building.
We looked for the Gingerbread Man but he was gone.
He told us we would never catch him!
I was ready to give up, but the kids kept chanting..."We won't give up!"
Mrs. Steinbacher heard us...
and told us she found clue 15!
The clue told us to go back to the room for a special surprise.
Well... we didn't find our cookies
but we did find a note and a book. It said he would be back in the afternoon.
We decided to set up a few "tricks" to catch the Gingerbread Man.
A gingerbread house might trick him!
They added "snow", windows, and lots of decorations.
It turned out great!
The kids also set to work making traps.
They were amazing!
Surely these would catch the Gingerbread Man!
After a short recess we came back
to find a note from the Gingerbread Man
AND our cookies returned!
There was even icing!
We never caught the Gingerbread Man
but it was a very sweet ending
to our fun adventure!
Our Undercover Mission was sweet success!
A SNOWY day brought
some snowy adventures!
Some beautiful princesses showed up too!
We were a big fan of Disney
and the Blues
and the Cardinals!
Mr. Debrick kicked off our storybook day with a book called YES DAY!
We brought in our favorite stories too!
Harry Potter
and Batman showed up
and some princesses in pants.
Unicorn books
and Disney books.
Some funny stories
and adventure stories.
Even Pete the Cat showed up!
The snowy adventures also continued.
We had so much snow
we decided to bring some back to the classroom.
The kids practiced writing letters
and popcorn words
in the snow.
They also had a great time
trying to make snowmen
and snow women
in the snow.
We also had fun talking about full, half full, and empty.
Our FULL bucket of snow
Was melting and becoming half full!
Friday was SPIRIT DAY!
Mrs. Reed's cousin also stopped by!
This time Miss Julia was teaching the kids how to make a very special recipe.
2 cups of yellow water and 2 cups blue water makes...
GREEN water!
The kids also had fun creating their own gingerbread stories out of clay.
The made the characters
and retold the story in their own words.
They are becoming quite the story tellers!
Three cheers for a GREAT Lutheran School's Week!
