Nothing could stop this week from being a SUPER week!
Mr. Marolf kicked off our week by stopping and reading one of his favorite books...
WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE!
He had the kids practice ROARING their terrible roars!
They were really good!
Then he said, "BE STILL!" and the kids quickly calmed down.
It was a GREAT way to kick off our week.
Monster Monday continued as we tried to feed this monster some letters and words.
The kids had to read the letter and then quickly slide the letter into the monster's mouth.
They had to be careful because the monster was VERY hungry
and liked to nibble fingers!
The kids had so much fun playing this game!
AND nobody's fingers got nibbled!
The kids also had fun painting their very own monsters.
They used different shapes
and different tools to create a monster.
They also used pattern blocks to create monsters.
And of course the monsters needed a place to live so they made some monster houses.
These monster families helped us practice matching up letters
and letter sounds.
The kids also did a great job of measuring monsters.
They used linking cubes to see how wide the monsters were.
Some musical monsters showed up too!
The uppercase monsters
were looking for the lowercase monsters.
When the music started the kids started moving.
Once the music stopped they had to quickly freeze and find a monster!
It was monstrously exciting!
Roger the Robot also stopped by this week.
He came to help us with our rhyming.
The robots needed to find the letter that they started with.
Once they found a match
the kids had to tell Roger a word that rhymed with their picture.
Roger gave them an "air" high-five if their answer was correct.
The kids had a great time with Roger!
Another robot showed up too!
Mrs. Helmkamp brought a special friend named Bee-Bot.
The kids had to program Bee-Bot to get him to move to the letter they wanted.
They watched with AMAZEMENT at how it worked!
We can't wait for Bee-Bot to come back again soon!
The kids also had fun making their own robots!
They took nuts and bolts
and tried to figure out ways to create a robot.
This one is a caterpillar robot.
This robot has wheels!
Some kids even decided to put skirts on their robots!
Even hats showed up on some robots!
It was fun to watch the kids' wheels spinning
as they figured out ways to create their robots.
It was also fun to watch their excitement
as they discovered ways to assemble their robots!
What a WONDERful way to end our week...
The week flew by in a FLASH
But it was SUPER
to end the week with SUPER HERO day!
You couldn't stop these SUPER kids
from having a great Friday!
They were all set to face
anything that came their way!
They were leaping
and soaring
and flying to meet any challenge
with smiles on their faces.
We started off our day by delivering our super hero toys.
We made the trek to the front of school.
We were amazed at how many toys had already been collected!
The kids each dropped a toy off to celebrate Drew Albritton's birthday.
Over 345 toys were collected by the school and delivered to Friends of Kids with Cancer.
Our super adventures continued in the classroom.
The kids stacked up alphabet cups.
They even spelled words with the cups.
Once the towers were all set...
They got their superhero ready...
and knocked the towers down!
We definitely have some SUPER readers!
Our super readers also headed outside
for a game of Red Rover!
Red Rover Red Rover send the letter V right over!
It was a great way
to spend a beautiful fall day!
Another beautiful week to spend outside in the sunshine.
The kids always have so much fun
exploring
and creating.
Three cheers for a SUPER week!
Maybe next week we will just relax????
Maybe not! :)
