A week of TREATS (with a few little tricks!)

We were all ready to celebrate another SUPER week as we celebrated a "ZERO HERO" day!
We are already at 50 days of school!
We also finished off the week with some pumpkin adventures...

We started off by taking some x-rays of the "little old lady"

who swallowed some pumpkin seeds.

The kids had to match the seed up to the right pumpkin.

Sometimes they even had to figure out what word the little lady was trying to spell!

The kids LOVED that challenge!

The kids were hard at work making more pumpkin gates too.

5 little pumpkins

sitting on a gate.

The first one said, "It's getting late!"

The second one said,

 "There's something in the air!"

The third one said, "We don't care!"

The fourth one said, "Let's have some fun!"

The fifth one said, "Let's run and run!"

Then WHOOSH went the wind!

And OUT went the lights.

Those five little pumpkins rolled out of sight!

Our fun was just  beginning...

Tuesday we headed over to the church basement

to visit with our Prayer Pals.

Some of us met a few new faces.

Others  had the same ones as last time.

Everyone had a GREAT time

visiting

and sharing pictures with their new friends.

We've already made some great friendships!
We can't wait to go visit again!

Back in the classroom we were learning about pennies.

"It's raining. It's pouring. The pennies are soaring!"

When the pennies landed, the kids had to sort the money.

Then they had to write down how much money they had.  It is all started to make "cents"!  ;)

Another activity was gym with Mrs. Steinbacher!

She taught us all about stacking cups.

The kids did a great job!

Once the kids had a chance to practice a little bit,

Mrs. Steinbacher taught them a game called "POPCORN".

Once the kids finished stacking their cups, they jumped up and down until everyone was finished.

The kids of course LOVED it!

They then had a little relay race.

The kids not only did a great job of stacking cups,
they did a great job of cheering for each other.

Thanks Mrs. Steinbacher for being such an AWESOME teacher!

Chapel was another exciting time to worship with Pastor Rouland leading our service.

He talked all about the red paraments and Reformation.

Pastor Rouland didn't come alone!  He had a special visitor named Gary that helped him.  The kids are excited to have him come back soon!

Back in our classroom the pumpkin fun continued with carving pumpkins.

We compared the seeds of a medium sized pumpkin

to the seeds of a small pumpkin.

Then of course we had to open up the big pumpkin.

The kids were amazed at what they saw!

They also were able to scoop out some seeds from the pumpkins.

They could choose the big pumpkin

medium or small pumpkin.

Some stuck their hands right in there and dug out 5 seeds.
Others weren't so sure!
Some thought it felt slimy.
Some thought is was completely gross!
Others thought it felt a little funny.  :)

Some preferred to use a spoon instead!

Each child scooped out 5 seeds

and sorted them by size.

Then they could choose to keep one seed for themselves.
Many of them wanted to take the seed home and plant it.

I wonder if anything will grow!
Even if it doesn't grow, the kids had a GREAT time...
even if they did get a little messy!

A few monsters also tried to scare us this week.

We used some tweezers to make our way through the spider webs to catch some monsters.

Then we had to match the monsters up with the correct capital letter.

To end the day we worked on some pumpkin science.

We tried to see which little pumpkin was the heaviest,

which ones would float...

and we measured to see which one was the biggest.

It was a short but SWEET week of treats (with a few little tricks).

Next week we kick off November more fun and friendships!
