Snow Much Fun!

"SNOW" many adventures this week!

We started off our week inside with some free time.
The kids were back to using their creative minds to build and create.

We headed to gym for some parachute fun!

The kids raised it so high...

they were able to sneak inside and Mr. Marolf scared them!
The kids LOVED this game!
For our reading stations, the kids were looking under their tree for a hidden ornament.

Some of the ornaments had letters they had to practice writing.
Sometimes they had words to spell!
The kids were also busy delivering Christmas trees.

They had to make sure the picture on the tree matched the beginning sound they delivered to.

The kids also had fun with two special quick projects... painting stars and triangles.

Next up, we bundled up and headed outside for recess.

Some friends played on the sidewalk with some crazy catching games!

In the afternoon, we were busy working with shapes.

The kids had fun creating with our attribute blocks!

Painting trees out of circles was another fun adventure.

The kids discovered bubbles would sometimes pop up too!

They were surprised what happened when it popped!
Don't go yet... our week was just getting started!

We bundled up and braved the cold to head to music class on Wednesday.  The kids LOVED learning how to play the bells!

Next up was a very special chapel as we lit the '"HOPE CANDLE" to start off the Advent season.
Mrs. Helmkamp led our chapel.  She talked about some unique ornaments called CHRISMONS. Look for the angels on our Christmas tree in church.

Before heading outside, we read this sweet book by Denise Fleming.  We talked about two things...
1. What are some signs winter is coming?
2. How do animals get ready for winter?

Finally it was time to gear up and head outside!

The kids had a BLAST playing in the snow!

They used buckets, cups, etc. to make all kinds of things.

Our little snow explorers had so much fun outside, they would have stayed out forever!
Their giggles were a little glimpse of God’s winter blessings.
When we got inside we warmed up by reading this unique book about a patchwork elephant.  It reminded us how special God made us!
The kids did great creating a patchwork word elephant.

They had to read the patch, write down the word,

and then match it to the black and white elephant to make him colorful.

The kids also enjoyed making their own salt dough ornaments.

We had some very unique creations!  Look at this penguin!

Madelynn thought of a star!

The kids also worked hard to assemble these sentence pyramids.

We discovered they looked a lot like a tree!
We finished the day by reading another fun Elmer story.
The cold and snow couldn't stop our fun learning adventures...

Thursday we were ready to do some amazing things!
The weather was too cold to go outside, so we enjoyed some fun inside.

In math, we were busy talking about shapes and positions.
The cone is above Mac's head.

Then the kids played the same game with a partner.
One person closed their eyes, while the other friend put a shape somewhere near them.

Then they had to say where the shape was!

In the afternoon they were busy making Christmas trees out of cups.

Then they had to roll the dice to see how many pom poms they needed to add to the tree with a tweezers.

Friday we were back in the gym for some more parachute fun!

For math we read this wonderful book by  Lois Ehlert.  She uses LOTS of shapes to illustrate her stories.  It was also a GREAT reminder of how to compromise with friends.

SOOO... the kids got to work creating their own "mole hills".

They had to work together to use all of the different shapes on the table.

They did an amazing job!

Teamwork makes the dreamwork!

We also had fun reading this silly story about how to catch an elf.

Then we helped this little elf turn on his Christmas lights!
First the kids had to work together to spell the word correctly.
Once they spelled their word,
they said each letter sound as they turned on the lights.
The inspector then double checked that the letters matched the card.
What a BRIGHT bunch of kindergartners!
The kids also enjoyed this reading dice game!
Once they rolled the dice,
the whole team had to highlight a word that matched that number.
Next they had to go pick out a shape to add to the creation.
They worked together to build an elf trap!
In the afternoon they were little elves making new toys out of random loose parts.

This team made a "67 airplane"!
This team worked together to make a pinwheel!
Such creative little elves!
We finished our busy week with a WONDERFUL Friday reader!

The kids LOVED hearing the story about some amazing yarn!

The kids stared in wonder at each page.

What a perfect finish—filled with learning, laughter, and little blessings.

See you next week!
