Welcome to kindergarten!
Take a peek into our week!
The kids started off the first day of school getting to know the classroom.
Their imaginations were already hard at work!
Some kids enjoyed creating with Legos.
Some liked building with the blocks.
Others enjoyed coloring.
We started off our time to together reading a very special book called the KISSING HAND. The kids LOVED the story as we talked about how our parents' love for us will never go away. AND God's love is with us all the time too!
You can listen to the story with your child here!

Next up we worked on our calendar! We flipped over the first card in our pocket chart to show we have been in school for 1 day! How many days will we get to?
For Jesus Time we met a "new friend" who was very worried about school. His name is Jelly! The kids enjoyed chatting with him and singing with him too.
We ventured outside to take a picture with the WHOLE school!
It was hot, but we were very brave!
Finally it was time to play on the playground!
We read this book about Miss Bindergarten and how her class got ready for kindergarten.
Then we drew our first day of school self-portrait.
They worked hard to add lots of good details.
In the afternoon, we read the sequel to the Kissing Hand. This time Chester the raccoon has a little brother. Another great reminder that our parents' love for us never runs out.
The kids had a blast exploring with these logs and tubes.
They also had a chance to use the wooden cubes, sticks, and animals.
Our last station was painting our very own kissing hand!
High five for a great first day!
Day two! We were ready to go on some fun adventures!
The kids enjoyed their free time in the morning to build and create.
These girls had fun sorting and organizing the animals.
Look at the road Madelynn created!
We even found out cups are fun to build with too!
The kids LOVED reading and singing along with me as we started our morning with this familiar story.
Pete reminded us that when things don't go our way, "Do we cry? Goodness no!"
For Jesus time, we talked about all the different places we might wear these shoes. No matter where we go, God is with us always!
SOOOOO... it was time to go on a little adventure with Pete the Cat at our school.
We went looking for his shoes!
Each shoe had a number on it.
We found the shoes all over Zion's campus.
We even found a shoe in the tree!
Do you see the shoe hiding on the wall?
We discovered some fun friends who were "rocking in their school shoes"!
Before heading back, we found some great numbers to help us hop our way to the classroom!
At our lunch recess we got to learn how to use the 10 spin!
The kids had to work together to get it to move.
The kids rolled the dice first.
Then they picked out that many buttons
and added them to Pete the Cat.
Some kids even practiced tying Pete's shoes!
It was quite the "groovy" day!
Friday the kids had a blast meeting...
Mrs. Jennings our PE teacher!
Instead of going to gym, she took us outside.
The kids went on a "dino" hunt!
Each dinosaur led us to a different piece of equipment.
The kids had to show how to use the equipment correctly to pass inspection.
Back in the classroom... I love to start our Fridays by singing: "Shake a Friend's Hand"!
The kids learned how to give air hugs!
We practiced sharing the pattern blocks with the friends at our table.
Some friends even chose to work together!
We also enjoyed reading the story Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!
The kids read with me, and they each got a letter to put on the coconut tree.
They couldn't put it on the tree until they heard me read it in the story.
For one of our reading stations the kids made their own alphabet tree.
They worked hard to get it to balance.
Every body had a different way of designing their tree.
The kids also worked on painting their own coconut tree.
Stay tuned to find out what we add to our tree!

Our alphabet blocks turned into houses and streets as we worked together to create Alphabet Town.

Some friends used tunnels.
Others liked using the cubes.
Some boys discovered they could balance the cubes on the. tubes at their alphabet town.

This team worked together to make a whole town!
In the afternoon we were working together to paint a GIANT coconut tree!
We painted the trunk...
and the leaves too!
The kids also worked together to make their own giant trees.
They used pom poms for the coconuts.
WOW! What a busy week!
We can't wait to see what CRAZY adventures pop up next week!
