We built lots of fun memories this week!
We started off the day with Mrs. Jennings in gym.
The kids LOVED playing the squid game and trying to catch the fish.
In math we were busy using Easter eggs to help us with our number bonds.
First I spun to see how many eggs we were tossing.
Then we had to toss and catch to see what our actual number bond would be.
The kids did a great job working with teen numbers and creating a number bond.
Then we had some bunny fun!
The first reading station was "bunny switch"!
They could only switch one letter at a time.
If they made a word, they got a point.
No bunny trouble here!
The next station was "Guess Where?"
A bunny was hidden under a word egg.
Their partner had to ask a "yes" or "no question to figure out where the bunny was hiding.
Is it under a red egg?
If the answer was yes, they had to write down all of the eggs that didn't match.
They kept asking questions,
until they narrowed down all the eggs to the final egg!
In the afternoon we were busy rolling dice...
Then the kids stacked up eggs and added them to their partners.
It was a little tricky to get the eggs to stay standing!
Tuesday it was time for another Masked Reader!
After a few bonus questions, we figured out it was...
Mrs. Helmkamp!
Of course we had LOTS of questions for her when she was done reading.
For math we were busy helping the Easter bunny by delivering some eggs.
We had to spin to figure out how many more we needed to add to our stack of ten.
Stacking 10 was a little tricky so we decided to make two stacks of 5.
Then Jensen discovered you could flip the eggs over and stack them too!
Then we went on a bunny hunt!
We had to help the mommy bunny find the correct baby bunny.
We found the word on the bunny print...
then we had to find the matching egg.
We were taking inventory of all the eggs we delivered.
These little bunnies did a good job!
In the afternoon we had a very special "Jesus Time".
We headed over to church and acted out the Last Supper.
First we washed each other's hands
as we said, "serve one another in love".
Next we passed out "bread".
We took told our friends, "Take and eat. Remember me".
Then came the "wine".
When we were done we headed to the "Garden of Gethsemane" to pray.
The kids had a quiet moment to talk to God.
Back in the classroom we were busy "dying" Easter eggs in a very unusual way!
We used shaving cream and liquid watercolor.
The kids swirled their colors around...
Look for their beautiful masterpieces in the hallway!
Ms. Steinbacher also came to visit us to help us with our memory verse.
The kids worked together to put together a giant puzzle.
When they were done, they were so proud of their giant memory verse! Make sure they sing it for you. They sound great!
Wednesday Mrs. Crumrine had us moving and grovin' again!
This time the kids used exercise bands to stretch to the beat of the music.
LOOK! It was time for JELLY BEAN Day!
We used the jelly beans for measuring.
These little bugs needed to be measured, so we used jelly beans to do it!
Mrs. Donner showed up to help protect some PEEPS!
The kids each designed something that would protect their Peep.
They could only use tooth picks and peeps.
Each kiddo came up with a very unique design.
We even had a jelly bean relay race!
After watching a Jelly Belly factory video, we got to work at our factory.
The kids started off by sorting the jelly beans.
The challenging part was using tweezers to pick up each bean!
Next they painted their own jelly bean using jelly beans!
They had to work together to get the beans to move.
They also were working hard to look for belly flops.
They had to examine the jelly beans looking for any marks.
Finally the kids were able to to taste test some jelly beans. Some flavors they didn't like.
Most of the jelly beans got a thumbs up!
Jelly bean day was sweet success!
Thursday we headed over to church for a very powerful Good Friday chapel.
Mrs. Lohmann took us on a journey to the cross.
First we put black chalk on our hands.
This was to remind us of our sins.
At the next station we talked about how Jesus washed our sins away.
We headed upstairs for our final station.
Mrs. Lohmann reminded us the story wan't over.
The kids then used a nail and a heart to remind them of Jesus.
Then we headed back to class.
For our reading stations we were working together to put together some egg puzzles.
The kids LOVED putting these together and trying to figure out what the sentence said.
In the afternoon we reviewed the whole journey to the cross.
Then they each took a turn to pound their sins to the cross.
When we were finished, we talked about how are sins are now on the cross and we are forgiven.
We pray that you have a blessed Easter.
