Our Cup Runneth Over with Blessings

Here we go...

Another week full of fun adventures
and memories.

We started off the week with Mrs. Jennings in the gym.

The kids learned how to play kickball!

It was a little tricky figuring out all of the rules.

But they got the hang of it and had a great time!

We are SO thankful for Mrs. Jennings!

For math we were learning different positional words.  "The cube is on Lucas' head."

The cone is on Jameson's shoulder.

The kids went to the table and hid a cube.

Their partner had to tell them where the cube was at.

After reading this HILARIOUS book, they kids had a little turkey race of their own!

The kids had a great time playing this turkey race game!

They rolled the dice to see where the turkey's buddy landed.  Whatever word they landed on, they had to read it.  You can play this game at home too!  Look for it in your child's Friday folder.

The kids worked really hard to practice drawing and painting these turkeys.

They turned out GREAT!

Another great dice game!
The kids rolled two dice and added them up.

Then they covered up the turkey that had the matching number.
But watch out!
A friend could BUMP you off of that number if they rolled it too!

The kids had SO much fun playing this game!
More exciting activities
waddled in on Tuesday...
We started off reading another great turkey book!

Then we got all geared up to go on a TURKEY HUNT!

The kids put on their turkey glasses
and went looking for some turkeys that escaped in the hallway!
They had to grab a feather
and find the turkey that it belonged to.

Our turkey escapades didn't stop there...

Mrs. Donner also showed up to help the kids make turkey traps!

Before the kids could take something to build with,
they had to read the word on the item.

They designed quite the turkey traps.

Each one had a story to go with it!

I loved hearing all of the explanation of how their trap worked.
In the afternoon we were trying to get a PERFECT 10 for our turkey.
First one person had to roll the dice.

The "feather getter" had to put that many feathers in the turkey.
The "chance roller" had to decide if they should take a chance and roll again or FREEZE.
If they took a chance and went over 10, the game was over.
If they rolled the right number they got a PERFECT 10!
The kids LOVED this game!
They also enjoyed making turkeys out of pattern blocks.

They even gave the turkeys some friends from the farm to play with.

Wednesday we were learning more about the first Thanksgiving.
The kids played a stick game similar to what Native Americans might have played.

They had to drop 5 sticks on the ground.
Whatever words or letters popped up, they got points for them.

Their partner had to write down whatever words/letters appeared.

This group went looking for animal tracks.
They had to read whatever word was
on the front of the animal track.

Then they found the track that matched on their paper.
Another activity was looking at Native America symbols,
and then writing it down on their paper.

The kids also enjoyed building their own Native American homes.

The kids had a BLAST playing this Native American style game.

They tossed the feather towards  the hoop to see what number they landed closest to.

Thursday was chapel day!

We had a special offering of canned goods.  Thank you SO much for your generosity!

Mr. Wood, our DCE, led our chapel.  He reminded us of all the things we could be thankful for, as he shared the things he is thankful for.

The biggest thing to be thankful for is JESUS!

After reading the surprise-ending in this book,
We talked about the ingredients we would need for our pie.
Then Mrs. Drury got to work helping the kids make a pumpkin pie for our feast!

The kids each got a turn to add something to the pie.

They even used Mrs. Drury's special mixer!

After mixing it all up...

It was time to dump it into the crusts.

The kids couldn't believe how full it got!
The kids were also busy finding the missing pie pieces.

The alphabet pies needed the picture that completed their pie.
We were also busy making words with these pies.
Sometimes we made real words.

Sometimes we made SILLY words!

In the afternoon we were busy painting our memory verses.
The kids used GIANT feathers to paint their memory verse!

They couldn't believe they were painting with  feathers!
They made quite the masterpieces!

We were also getting ready for our Thanksgiving Feast by delivering some invitations.

We also had to get ready for our parade!

SOOO... we worked on decorating out instruments.

The big day arrived so we headed to the gym to burn off some energy.

The kids were busy protecting the farm.

Then we headed out on our Thanksgiving parade.

Our first stop was Mrs. Horn's room!

They sang and played with all of their hearts!

Then we stopped by to see the cooks to wish them a happy Thanksgiving.

We took our chilly parade on the road...

We sang and played so loud, we got Mrs. Holtz AND Mr. Debrick to come to their windows.

We wished them a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Then we headed back to our classroom.

We warmed up in the classroom by trapping some alphabet turkeys.
I called out a word.  If they had the turkey that matched that word,
they trapped it!
The turkey was released once everyone said the letter sound.

We were also building words with beads!
It was a little tricky keeping the beads from rolling away!

These pilgrims were working hard to find the right ship!

After reading their word, they had to float to the right ship.

They carefully steared their ship in the right direction.

Once they found the right word, they sailed back to their friends.
Before heading to the feast we practiced a little Thanksgiving percussion song.  I told the kids they could use their instruments and practice this at home.  :)

Finally it was time for our feast!

We were blessed with some AMAZING helpers that set up, cleaned up, and served.  THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who helped out!

We even had some very special visitors show up to join us!

The kids LOVED the turkey!  A huge thank you to BOARS HEAD for donating the YUMMY turkey.

The kids couldn't get enough food!

And of course the DEVOURED the pie!

It was a fantastic feast!

Back in the classroom we were busy making our thankful trees.

They also enjoyed making their own Mayflower ships.

The kids even got to do a little log throwing!

Whatever number they landed on,
their partner had to write down the number.

Whew!  What a day!

Definitely a week worth cheering for!
Have a HAPPY Thanksgiving!
