It was another SUPER week!
We were driving to a new letter this week.
Our next stop was the letter Bb!
Nothing "bugged" us during this game.
The kids picked out a bug and grabbed a swatter.
When they found that letter in the classroom, they had to smack it!
We started hunting "bugs" outside.
They had to find the lowercase bugs and put them on top of the right letter in the jar.
When it started to rain, we moved the bug hunt inside.
The kids had to keep track of how many bugs they found.
More bugs joined us for math.
The kids closed their eyes. When they opened them, they had to quickly count to see how many bugs were hiding on the blanket.
We also went looking for bugs in the classroom with a partner.
Once they found a group of bugs,
they had to write down how many bugs were in the group.
They also had fun picking up bugs
and adding it to their ten frame.
The tweezers made it a tricky challenge!
These bottles helped us make some bugs!
The kids stamped the bottles for the body of the bug...
and then added details to the bug.
Monday was also our first trip to the school library!
The kids LOVED checking out books and can't wait to go again!
We were all set to go for more learning adventures on Tuesday...
We didn't let Pigeon drive the bus,
but we got to drive the bus to Bb words!
We had to be careful not to get tricked by words that didn't start with Bb.
The Bb on the bus goes /b/,/b/, /b/ all through the town!
Our alphabet blocks were back!
I am always so amazed at what they create!
We talked about how words make up a sentence,
SO we pushed these little buttons to show how many words were in a sentence.
It-was-FUN! 3 words!
We also worked with these letter buses to find the right wheels.
Beads and buttons helped us bedazzle these letters!
They challenged themselves to use the tweezers to strengthen those writing fingers
Finally we let the Pigeon drive the Reading Bus!
The kids LOVED reading with Pigeon as their driver!
The kids got to drive the bus in this math game.
They closed their eyes. When they opened them, some passengers had hopped on the bus! They had to hold up the number of fingers to match the number of passengers.
If you are looking for a fun (and quick) family game...
the kids LOVED LOVED LOVED the game BLINK!
They were begging to play it again.
As we get better at it, we will start to go faster and faster!
In this game the kids pulled out a ten frame bus.
They had to count to see how many passengers were on the bus.
The next friend and to bring that many bugs to the bus.
The last part was adding the bugs to the "bus"!
Gym was a BLAST this week!
The kids had so much fun using pool noodles for their special bats to hit the balloons.
They had to count to see how many times they could hit it
before the balloon hit the ground.
They worked so well together!
One team actually hit it 40 times!
Then we headed over to church for music class.
Mrs. Crumrine let the kids play a very special drum this week.
Our busy Wednesday continued with chapel.
Miss Steinbacher led our chapel. She reminded us that God's word is lamp unto our feet and light to our path.
Thanks so much for your generosity.
This inspired us to do some fun activities with buttons.
We traced letters in buttons and wrote them on our paper.
We also played a matching Corduroy game where we found Corduroy's button.
Then we had to match it to the right bear.
If we got it right, the next friend shone a light on the letters.
The last part of the game was using the bear to find that letter in the classroom.
The kids also discovered that our soft blocks have different textures on them.
They used crayons to rub the different textures to create their own Corduroy bear.
The kids also had a great time making some fabulous creations out of buttons.
They took clay, buttons, and popsicle sticks to create whatever their imagination came up with.
This is a vacuum cleaner! :)
Mrs. Cowgil had some fun with kids and this beginning sound balloon game.
They had to hit the balloon and say a "Bb" word. They had to see how many they could come up with before it dropped!
We were ready for another ZERO HERO Day!
To kick off the day, the kids were using Snap-O's to make "trains" that were taller than them!
Then we officially got started by counting to 20!
Our super hero friends were back to help us SMASH rhymes.
They also helped us SAVE some letters
and letter sounds.
We used our SUPER strength so save some more letters.
This time we were tossing bean bags to the letters.
Then we had to write down the letter on our shields.
For math we were busy feeding the super heroes. We had to spin the arrow to see how much they eat.
Then we cheered for the super hero that ate the most food.
Then it was time to dance and move like a SUPER HERO.
They definitely have some SUPER moves!
the kids picked out a "boat" and tried to get as many animals on the boat as possible.
Their turn was done if an animals fell off the boat OR the boat sank.
They LOVED this activity!!!
They couldn't believe how many animals fit on the boats!
They were very strategic about how they placed the animals on.
The record was 64 animals!
The anticipation of the animals falling was almost to much to bear!
They were SO excited when they worked as a team and emptied out the bucket!
What a SUPER day!
We ended our week with our BEAR PICNIC!
Our bears came and joined us for some exciting activities!
We kicked off the day with our COOL BEAR HUNT and dancing.
Next up our bears helped us match up the teddy bear letters.
We had a very special Jesus Time outside on the ELP playground
The playground has a boat like Noah's Ark!
We practiced our memory verses on the boat.
We even got a sneak peek for next week's verse.
We had a BEARY yummy snack with our bears.
Before we could eat it,
we had to sort the P and B foods.
We also had a chance to read with our bears.
They were the perfect book buddies!
By the afternoon the bears were tired and needed a rest.
Some bears even fell asleep.
This kids did a great job of using the bears to balance different items that started with Bb.
They discovered that if three big bears were too heavy
they might have to switch to medium sized bears instead.
We discovered the ball was the heaviest.
The basketball was the lightest.
The also had a challenge of balancing bears using planks and cups.
Some friends even made arches for the bears.
AND of course we had to bring our bears on a picnic!
We ended our week with our first Friday reader!
The kids were such great listeners to a GREAT story about self-control AND cake!
It was the perfect way to end our week!
It was a BEARY exciting week!
Where will our adventures lead us next week...
Don't forget library books are due Monday. :)
