We LOVED being back with our friends...
after a long break!
We definitely had lots to smile about this week!
It was time to get right back to work...
We were busy stretching words out
as we flicked the word back and forth.
They loved this game!
We played a little game of over and under with our letters.
The kids closed their eyes.
A letter appeared under their cup, and they had to practice writing it.
The kids also had fun creating wooden letters
and then putting beads OVER them.
We also started talking about shapes this week.
The kids had a great time creating with our alphabet cubes.
They even used some cylinders to help create their alphabet towns.
They also enjoyed using pattern blocks to create designs.
Lois Ehlert was our illustrator of the month in November. The kid got to create their own animal Lois Ehlert style... with shapes!
We used these word cubes to practice reading
and writing words.
Then the kids painted over the words.
They discovered the words were still there!
This might look like a mess...
but it is actually our Advent wreath!
Pastor Rouland led our first Advent chapel.
We were excited to light the hope candle this week!
We were also excited to see Pastor Rouland's friend Rupert. :)
Thank you for your generosity as always! $698.55 has been paid for the heating bill of Bethlehem church. YAY!
Gym class brought lots of smiles
and lots of tired bodies!
We worked hard playing "turkey tag" to end the month of November.
If the turkeys got caught, they had to go to the barn,
until someone told them "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!"
We were ringing in the fun in music class again.
They are becoming experts at ringing bells!
inspired us to create our own places for animals to hibernate.
We everything from frog homes
to bear caves.
These boys even made railroad tracks for the their Hibernation Station.
Out in the hallway the kids were searching for some caves.
They were trying to help the bear cubs find their homes by matching the CVC words.
The kids enjoyed making all kinds of shapes
to create their own Christmas ornaments.
From snowmen
to wreaths, we had a little of everything!
The kids enjoyed finishing up their ornaments.
They can't wait to take them home at the end of the month!
High-Five for our popcorn words!
This new reading game kept our hands busy!
If I called out their popcorn word,
they had to give it a "high-five"!
Playing catch with our number sphere
helped us practice greater and less than.
And they loved practicing the word SPHERE! What spheres can you find at your house!
The kids were in tip top "SHAPE"
as they worked really hard to create some very unique shape designs.
They took all kinds of 3-D shapes of various sizes and materials
and turn them into all kinds of architectural masterpieces!
I just love watching their imaginations at work!
OH CHRISTMAS TREE! OH CHRISTMAS TREE!
The kids had a blast with this challenge!
They had to use stacking cups
to create a Christmas tree.
Then they carefully had to take the tweezers to add poms poms
to decorate the tree!
They had to be really careful not to knock it over...
Sometimes the cups didn't quite make it into trees!
Sometimes a little teamwork was all that was needed
to make some very fancy Christmas trees!
They were SO proud of their work.
They also enjoyed making Christmas trees out of circles.
Who new these cylinders would make such great Christmas trees!
Finally FRIDAY arrived!
It was time to put on our dancing shoes
and do a little singing and dancing!
We had a TREEmendous time playing this reading game.
They picked up a triangle with a "popcorn" word on it. When they matched it up to a rectangle, it turned into a tree!
Hop scotch kept us on our toes!
The kids had a great time designing their hopscotch course
and then JUMPING over the letters!
More messy masterpieces!
This time we were painting with feathers to make our memory verse art!
TA-DA! Look how we took flat shapes
and turned into 3-D shapes!
The kids were trying to figure out how to make Christmas tree shapes.
Some kids even made cubes.
Nuts and bolt trees were a little more challenging.
Some kids figured out how to make the trees stand stall.
Others made their tree design flat.
I'm not sure these trees are ready for decorating,
but I loved the different designs they came up with.
Look out! We are ready for another mystery game!
This time one of the 3-D shapes disappeared.
The kids had to figure out which shape was missing and circle the one that matched on the paper.
We ended our day with our Mystery Reader.
She read two FANTASTIC books!
We LOVED listening to her read!
It definitely brought smiles to our faces as we headed out the door for the weekend.
I wonder how next week will shape out...
I'm sure we will build lots more memories!
