Wrapping Up the Week

We were dancing our way through the week!
We were all shaped up to have another great week.
The kids were excited to have a little fun with elves to get the week started!

These little elves needed help hanging up "lights".

Once they put the lights in the right order to spell a word, the light bulbs lit up!

The kids were also working hard to read some elf sentences.

The sentences were all mixed,

so they put them in the right order and checked to see if they were right.

SANTA'S COMING!

For a little brain break we did some elf exercises!

Doing some HUG SQUATS...

How about some SNOW ANGELS!

If you need a little brain break at your house...click here to try the Buddy Elf Workout!

The kids were all lined up to play the sneaky elf game.

They had to guess which tree number the sneaky elf was hiding behind!

In math we were testing out which shapes were good at rolling.

We discovered cylinders and spheres worked well.

Cones  kind of spun around.

What shapes are good for building with?

We read the hilarious book, How to Catch an Elf.

The kids had a blast designing their own elf traps!

It was so fun to watch their creative brains at work.

Watch out elves!  We've got some tricky traps for you!

These little elves were busy delivering presents with popcorn words on them.

Once the presents were delivered they had to match the right tag.

We were in the business of gift giving as we created these graphs.

We assigned each person in our family a number.  We rolled the dice to see who would get the most gifts!

Thursday we were all set to share some JOY!

Mrs. Haun led our chapel as we lit the third candle this advent season.

She had  a little help from a friendly angel to deliver her message.

She reminded us that being "joyful" does not mean to be happy all the time.  It means finding the good in things even when times seem tough.

Matching up these Christmas trees was also on our agenda.

The kids had to read the word

and then match it to the right picture.

They did a great job of working hard

and figuring out their Christmas tree puzzle.

We played alphabet bingo Christmas style.

They picked an elf letter

and placed a Christmas eraser on the right letter.

Then they had to write their letter in play-doh.

One of my favorite Christmas books is  The Pine Tree Parable.
It is always a great reminder of the true meaning of Christmas.

It was also a great way to start our "Wrapping Party"!

The kids were busy decorating tags for our foster care family.

We adopted a family through Angels' Arms.

Because of your generosity, we were able to complete the entire wishlist!

The kids also enjoyed decorating gift bags.

They were also up for the challenge of wrapping the presents!

Put these little elves for Christmas this year!

We are excited to share a little Christmas cheer!

The Grinch showed up to finish off our busy week.

He couldn't stop us
from having our learning adventures.

The Grinch brought us some word ornaments.
The kids worked together to figure out what the word said.

If it was a real word, they wrote it down on the their boards.

If it was a silly word,
they had to make their best Grinch face!

The kids had fun playing this game!
Next up was a game called "switch".

The kids could choose one letter to switch.

If they made a nonsense word,

they got GRINCHED!

WHOVILLE creations had us working hard!

We took all different kids of shapes

and turned them into all kinds of buildings.

The Grinch was also stealing letters.

The kids had to guess which letter was missing.

In this game the kids were matching  the letter to the Christmas tree the Grinch stole.

“It came without ribbons, it came without tags.
It came without packages, boxes, or bags.”

"Maybe Christmas doesn't come from a store..."
"Maybe, perhaps,

Christmas means a little bit more!"

And that's a wrap!

Sneak peek for next week...
