Fall Leaves Fall

Another fantastic week of learning with fun and friends!

Lots of letter adventures

and FALL adventures

as we painted fall trees
and colorful leaves.

We also designed our own  fall trees

using a variety of materials.
The kids worked hard
figuring out how to get their trees to stand.

They also added colorful buttons
for the leaves of the trees.

They were tree-mendous!

After reading a book called, When the Leaf Blew in, the kids played a windy game.

The "wind" scattered all of the letter leaves on the carpet.
The kids gathered them up and sorted them.
The wind also blew in some numbers!
The kids had to blow the number to their partner, and they had to practice writing it.

Wednesday was a very special day!

Some wonderful moms

came to join us

for some yummy treats.

They also brought some smiles to share!

Then we headed over to chapel.

Some of the moms were even able to join us!

Mr. Debrick led our chapel service.

He got everyone excited about God's amazing and unending love.

It was a very special worship service.

We were excited our moms could join us

AND we are so THANKFUL for all of our wonderful moms.
The learning adventures continued back in our classroom.

We are SO excited that we have started reading books!
The kids worked so hard this week learning to point to words and using the pictures to help figure out what tough words were.
We also had fun going on a LEAF HUNT!

The kids had a great time going all over campus

looking for leaves.

We found some really big ones!

and some colorful ones too!

Some were simply a work of art!

It was a dreary day, but a great day to enjoy God's creation!

We couldn't wait to investigate and share our leaves back in the classroom.
We did some investigating.

We measured to see how long our leaf was.

Then we recorded what color our leaf was and why we liked our leaf.
Who knew leaves could be SO exciting!
This week we also did a lot of building.

Mrs. Helmkamp stopped by and brought a special Lego STEAM Park!

The kids each worked on a special part of the amusement park.

Some of them made rides.

Some of the kids designed games for the amusement park or food stands.
Then we worked on paying to go to different places at the amusement park.

Once they paid,

they were able to enjoy the rides
and games!

The kids LOVED this fun STEAM project.

We also went to a PEP assembly this week!
We celebrated our boys cross country team winning nationals!

Mr. Debrick brought around the awesome trophy for us to see and touch.

The varsity girls are headed to state this weekend so we cheered for them too!

There was even a school wide relay race.

It was loud, crazy fun!

SHHHH...We finished our week on a little quieter note.

A librarian from Kisker library came by to sing and read to us.

She read to us four GREAT books!

After reading all of the books...

The kids voted for their favorite.

Where is My Bear? was the one most kids in our room voted for.

Miss Ashley the librarian was so much fun to visit with,

we wished she could have stayed all day.  :)

She also inspired us to create our own library in our classroom.

The kids each made their own library card

and practiced checking out books.

They even figured out how to "scan" the books.

Some kids even "owed" money for overdue books.  :)
They had to pay a small fine!

I can't wait to see wait they come up with for our library next week.

Once again another WONDERFUL story from our Friday reader!

The kids LOVED the book about some hardworking puppies and had some great questions!

We definitely have a lot to be thankful for this month!
