To say it was a GREAT week is not a STRETCH of the truth at all!
We started off washing each other's feet???
Well, we actually painted our feet first...
Some even thought it tickled!
Others weren't too excited about it.
Then we stamped our feet on a special piece of paper.
Then it was time to wash
and dry each other's feet.
It was to remind us how Jesus washed His disciples' feet.
We also enjoyed studying NOISE!
Different tools were used to play jars filled with water.
We checked to see which jar had the highest and lowest pitch.
Going on a noise hunt was also a great adventure.
The kids stopped to listen
at five different places.
They then wrote down all of the different sounds they heard.
Nets also helped us with our learning this week,
as we shook up our popcorn words and spelled them.
Three NEW teachers joined us Wednesday.
They led us down to the gym
and helped us work on our basketball skills.
Next up was chapel.
We had a special chapel learning about Palm Sunday.
Our new teachers also helped us with writing the letter Nn.
They were also really good Book Buddies.
AND great story tellers too!
Next they led us outside to recess!
They showed us a few monkey bar moves
and a few other tricks too!
We LOVED having them outside for recess!
These new teachers also helped us with some nursery rhymes (DISH RAN AWAY WITH THE SPOON)
Mrs. Fuhr helped with Jack and Jill spelling.
The children had to "fetch" a pail of vowels.
They returned the pail when they had made a word with their vowel.
These nice, new teachers
also joined us for lunch!
Back in the classroom we continued to work on nursery rhymes,
as we tried to make sure Humpty Dumpty didn't fall off of his wall!
It was quite the balancing act.
Some even made Humpty Dumpty roll down the wall without falling!
The kids were also hard at work building London Bridges.
However, these bridges were NOT falling down!
It was hard to say good-bye to our new teachers.
We LOVED having them visit.
We hope to see them again soon!
Another book we read this week was Yertle the Turtle, so the kids worked on stacking "turtle shells".
After rolling the dice, they had to stack that many turtle shells.
It took a lot of concentration.
The children were very careful.
They were very excited when they reached their goal!
Sometimes they didn't quite make it.
But they kept trying when they didn't succeed.
It was a tough challenge,
but oh so exciting to beat the challenge!
My favorite part of the week was heading over to church.
We acted out the Last Supper.
First we washed each other's hands and said, "Serve one another in love".
Next we shared some bread.
"Take and eat. And remember me."
Then we had some "wine". "Take and drink. And remember me."
We closed with a special hymn just as Jesus did with His disciples.
We then headed into the sanctuary to pray.
It was so amazing to listen to them, as I could hear them whispering their quiet prayers.
It was a great way to celebrate the Last Supper.
To end our month long study of prayer, a special visitor stopped by.
Mrs. Martin taught us a special way to pray... a PATH prayer
Praise
Apologize
ThanksgivingHelp
She then gave each child a piece of paper to write their own prayer.
We were so thankful to have Mrs. Martin stop by our classroom.
It was a week that will STAND out
as a week full of fun and memories.
