We blasted off into this week
with more rocket adventures.
Some wonderful 8th graders came to share with us how their rocket launch worked.
That inspired us to create some rockets of our own.
Some vehicles were even equipped to do some exploring in space.
And some landing pads appeared too!
We created some pattern rockets
and blasted them off!
Some ramps were created,
then they raced rockets.
We also headed outside to do a crazy "rocket" experiment.
We dropped Mentos into Coke first.
Then we dropped some into 7-UP.
Diet Coke was last.
Diet Coke caused the Mentos to explode the highest!
We were also ROCK'in the alphabet this week.
The alphabet appeared on the rocks and the kids had to put the rocks in the right order.
They also had to figure which letters were missing.
Some other exciting alphabet games we played were ring ross...
and Red Rover.
"Red Rover, Red Rover let the letter C come right over."
Roger the Robot showed up to finish off our week.
Mrs. Helmkamp also came to help us learn about these mini robots called BEE-BOTS.
The kids were able to program the BEE-BOTS to move to a certain letter.
The kids were amazed at what they could do and can't wait for them to come back!
Roger helped the kids with some special learning fun.
Some mini robot puzzles were mixed up...
and needed to be put together to spell words.
He also helped find some shapes in the classroom.
They liked Roger so much, they created some robots of their own!
Rest time was exciting as Mrs. Rouland let us borrow...
her record player.
The kids were impressed with how it spun around so fast!
I gave the kids an old, broken radio and some tools.
They had a great time exploring and investigating
and of course taking it a part!
Our ROCK'in week was complete with a fun Friday reader!
