Take a peek into our busy week!
We started off our Monday with an earthquake drill. They kids did a great job of following directions!
After that we headed to the gym for some fun catching and throwing stations.
When we made it back to our classroom, we read this amazing book by Eric Carle.
The kids couldn't believe the surprise ending!
Some fireflies showed up for our reading stations too!
The kids loved using the flashlight to find the hidden letter.
Once they found the hidden letter, they had to find the right jar to put it in.
Some more fireflies popped up in our classroom.
The fireflies lit up the beginning sound in a word.
The kids worked together to find the right letter hiding in the jar.
The kids also enjoyed using special highlighters to lighten up the fireflies path!
Our creative brains got to work making our own little bugs.
They used clay, buttons, sticks, and other loose part.
In the afternoon the kids headed to the library for the first time!
We were also busy painting with balloons!
These textured prints we later turned into bugs!
The kids had a blast making little bug homes.
We were also busy trying to fit bugs onto one leaf!
First they had to roll the dice to see how many bugs to pick up.
Then they used the tweezer to pick up that many bugs and drop them on the leaf.
Tuesday we were all smiles as we celebrated INTERNATIONAL DOT DAY!
We started off the day by reading The Dot, an incredible book by Peter H. Reynolds.
The kids had blast celebrating DOT Day with all kids of dotty adventures!
This group was making NOT-a-DOTS!
We were also busy making dot sculptures and pictures with dots.
They have such great imaginations!
The kids even had a dotty dance party!
When the music stopped, they had to quickly run to a DOT.
There was a dotted letter hidden in the giant "dots".
The kids had to run to their dot dish and write down their letter.
Our dotted adventures were just getting started...
In the afternoon, the kids SMOOSHED some dots together!
First they picked out 3 colors to drizzle onto their dots.
They couldn't wait to smoosh it together!
TA-DA!
They were AMAZED at what masterpieces they created!
After reading The Grouchy Ladybug,
the kids enjoyed playing a new ladybug game.
No grouchy ladybugs here!
Wednesday we started our day off with Mrs. Crumrine and music class!
The kids are working hard learning new songs for church.
We were ready to have another SUPER day...
as we celebrated another ZERO HERO day!
These brave superheroes had to face the laser beams to save the letters!
Their special tweezer hands allowed them to sneak between the laser beams.
It was a little tricky.
But they didn't give up!
Mission accomplished!
They were also busy searching for the missing letters under the hidden cape.
They had to write down which letter was missing,
before lifting up the cape to see if they were right.
Shields UP for this fun game!
After picking out a "letter ball",
the kids said the letter sound as they fired the ball at the shields.
Ms. Steinbacher showed up in the afternoon with this SUPER game to help us with our memory verse.
She took away the kiddos' sense of sight!
They had to use their sense of hearing and trust their partner to lead them from tree to tree.
Every 10 steps they said their memory verse together...
TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART.

The kids also enjoyed adding textured blocks to build a tower for the superhero to save.
Once they rolled the dice, they had to use that many textured blocks to build a tower.
Then they checked to see if their superhero could balance on the top of it!
It definitely was a SUPER day!
Our week wasn't quite done...
Mrs. Donner came in to help use our sense of touch.
In order to feel inside the tubs,
the kids had to tell the name of the letter and it's sound on their "ticket".
Then they felt inside the tub to see what building materials they could find.
Once they had all of their materials, they got to working building.
They had to build something that would save the animals on Noah's ark.
They built quite the boats!
They also had fun building with these rainbow alphabet sticks.
Once they read the letter on the stick,
they added it to the stick creation.
Each group created something unique!
This group was saving the animals that fell off the ark.
There were hidden letters on the animals, so they wrote down the letter of the animal they saved.
We had more Noah's ark adventures in the afternoon.
The kids LOVED playing this sink and float game.
First they picked a boat.
Then one by one they put animals on the "ark".
They had to see how many animals would fit on the boat before it would sink.
Some of the boats held 42 animals!
They loved this game so much, don't be surprised if they want to play it in the bathtub! :)
The teams also worked together to build Noah's ark out of our wooden planks.
We had some very unique arks!
Our memory work art was also on our agenda.
First the kids painted a rainbow on some bubble wrap.
Then they gave it a little "back rub".
Then it was time for the big reveal!

Friday we were back in the gym working hard!
The kids were working on their hand eye coordination.
Back in the classroom we were having some more buggy adventures.
Some bugs escaped, and we had to figure how many to search for.
Once we found them, we put them back on their leaves.
They played the same game with their friends at the table.
Some bugs went missing from their traps!
Their partner had to figure out how many were still under the trap.
We were also busy SWATTING letter bugs!
If I called out their bug's letter sound,
they had to hit it with the fly swatter.
There were also giant bugs that hid their letter.
They had to write down which letter they thought the bug ate.
These bug investigators were hard at work.
They went to the pond and used their magnifying glass to look of bugs.
Then they carried the bug back to their table with a tweezers and wrote down the hidden letter.
Out in the hallway some tiny letter bugs escaped!

They had to write down all of the bugs they found.
We ended our day with a special Friday Reader!
Hudson's mom read a HILARIOUS book about a leaf thief!
It was the perfect way to end our day...
and the perfect way to end our busy week! :)
