There was no "GRINCHing" around this week!
We were all ready to spread some Christmas cheer!
Mrs. Jennings kicked off our day with some fun Christmas music!
The kids were showing off their moves!
But when the music stopped...
the kids had to hustle to a hula hoop!
The kids had some fun with stockings during our reading stations!
First they had to pick a stocking that was hanging up.
Next they shared it with their friends. Everyone had to practice reading and writing it.
They also enjoyed playing this mystery stocking game.
Each kiddo took a turn pulling a letter out of the stocking.
They gave everybody a clue what letter it was by saying it's letter sound.
The kids begged to keep playing!
The kids also enjoyed using the pattern blocks to make Christmas pictures.
Their were even pictures from the Nativity story.
Our week was just getting started...
Tuesday, we were all smiles on Candy Cane Day!
The kids had a great time using their free time to build and create.
We started off our reading time with this wonderful story about the meaning of the candy cane! See if your child remembers. :)
Time for some candy cane fun!
The kids used candy canes to pick up some cvc words.
Once they picked up a word,
they brought it back to a friend who found the match!
The last step was spelling that word with the magnetic letters.
The kids also went on a heart word hunt. Then they wrote the heart word on their candy cane.
When they found all the words, they painted their candy cane.
The kids also had fun creating letters with the candy cane shapes.
After they made letters, the made their own creations.
Their favorite reading activity was probably candy cane shuffle board!
They first had to read the word on their "puck".
Then they flicked it to their partner to practice reading.
In the afternoon, we read another wonderful candy cane story. This taught us about where the candy cane first came from and the reason why the candy cane was first made.
The kids enjoyed using candy canes to create designs.
First they had to pick a number to see how many candy canes they got to use.
Calvin got the number one, so he made it look like the letter J!
They loved this game!
The kids also enjoyed balancing candy canes.
They even had a chance to measure stockings and hats with candy canes.
We also did an experiment to see what happened to the candy canes when we put them in hot water, cold water, and vinegar.
What a SWEET day!
Wednesday we were back for more adventures...
The kids love creating with pattern blocks!
Next up was music class.
We worked hard practicing on our Christmas songs!
After a quick break, we headed to church for chapel.
We were SO excited to light the 3rd candle... the JOY candle!
Miss Steinbacher led our chapel.
She reminded us about the Chrismons that we have been working with.
She then introduced us to two new ones! The manger.
AND the shepherds staff. Be looking for them on our trees in church!
Before starting reading stations, I read to the kindergartners one of my favorite Christmas books. It is such a great reminder of the true meaning of giving at Christmas.
Back in the classroom we were all set for some reading adventures.
The kids enjoyed working together to read the tangrams
and then creating with them.
They also worked together to create another sentence Christmas tree.
One reading station enjoyed the beautiful weather and went outside!
They had a blast hunting for matching stockings.
Each stocking had a word they got to practice reading.
Who knew? Reading games outside in December could be so much fun!
In the afternoon we read this WONDERFUL story about a little mouse who discovers the true meaning of Christmas! He keeps trying to use the manger set for his house! The kids LOVED this book!
Our afternoon continued with the kids, working on creating the Nativity story. This is the star!
The kids loved creating their own manger scene!
Some kids made the whole town of Bethlehem!
I just love watching them tell the story!
Friday it was time to share the good news of Jesus' birth!

Back in the classroom we spent some time opening presents.
Then it was time to party!
The kids had a great time making a fun Christmas tree.
There is even a spot for a secret treat inside!
Out in the hallway the kids were having a great time playing some reindeer games!
We even played a little pin the nose on the snowman.
The kids also worked hard making cards for our Homebound Friends.
Of course we had a yummy snack.
The kids had a challenge of making a picture with their snack.
This little guy made a stable. Do you see Baby Jesus hiding in the stable?
We loved spending time with all of our special helpers!
