One SPOOK-tacular Week!

Take a peek into our short, busy week.

We started off in the gym playing a game called garbage.

The kids worked hard getting the balls and bean bags on the other side of the net.
Rainy days mean puzzle time for recess!

The kids love working together to figure out these puzzles.
These boys were beaming with pride when they got this puzzle put together!

Then it was time to  read one of the kids' favorite books... They loved reading along with me!
Next up... We were scaring up some reading adventures!

The kids had to feed the scarecrow a picture.

The picture had to start with the beginning sound that I called out.

Once the scarecrow was fed,

We put the pictures into a graph.
The kids also had fun doing scarecrow relay races.

Each article of clothing had a letter on it.
They had to find the right letters...

To make a word!

After lunch, we headed back to the lunchroom with a special surprise.

We gave Miss Julia two of our pumpkins. We even signed one them and wrote a note reminding her about Jesus' love.

Miss Julia couldn't contain her pure joy and excitement!

After reading about an Old Lady who swallowed some leaves,

We painted with some leaves!

The kids were surprised at the different textures and prints they could make.

They discovered it was very messy!
Sometimes messes make the best masterpieces.

More smiles popped up on Tuesday.

We headed over to the church basement to sing for our prayer pals.

The kids were excited to see their friends again.

It has been so fun watching them make connections with these special people.

They had some amazing stories to tell!

We are excited to see them again next month!

Back in the classroom we were ready to celebrate our Fruits of the Spirit with some friendship fruit salad.

The kids had to sort the fruit first before they could eat it.

It was a yummy math lesson!

The kids also enjoyed reading the pumpkin path.

They had to follow the path with a mini pumpkin.

Along the path were some letters or words the kids had to put together.

The kids also enjoyed spelling words in pumpkin seeds.

Then it was time to open up the pumpkins!

We started off peeking into the small pumpkin.

Then the kids had a chance to open the big pumpkin.

They couldn't believe what they found!

Digging inside the pumpkin brought some great big smiles.

Our pumpkin investigations weren't quite done...
Then we checked to see if our medium sized pumpkin would float.

The kids were excited to see if our huge pumpkin would float too.

It did!

To end the day we weighed our huge pumpkin. The kids were shocked to discover it weighed 24 pounds!

Who knew pumpkins could bring so much joy!

Wednesday we dodged the raindrops and headed to music class.

The kids enjoyed listening to some fun Halloween music and passing the giant pumpkin.

After everyone had a turn to hold the pumpkin, we headed back to class.

Mrs. Lohmann led our chapel this week.

She had the help of some wonderful 8th graders.

She talked about running the race without distractions or things that hinder us.

We need to focus our eyes on Jesus.
Thank you so much for your generosity! This next month our offering will go to the seminarians and their families.
For math we pretended to be on a wagon headed to the pumpkin patch!

We had to guess who on the wagon had the pumpkin.

Who took the pumpkin from the patch?
Did the 5th person take it?

Who me? Couldn't be! Then who?

They loved trying to trick each other!

For reading stations we were busy tossing the ball to words.

This was just a warm up  for the excitement to come!

These kids aren't sleeping... They were busy trick or treating for letters.

Once they got their letters, they dumped them out to see what words they could make.
We were also busy trick or treating in the hallway.

They had to deliver the word to the right bucket.
Finally it was time to party!

Check out some of the fun things we got to do...

Thank you to all of the special helpers that came!

It wouldn't have been a party without you!
What a spook-tacular week !

We will see you next week!
