100 Days Smarter!

What a week!

One hundred days of school already?!

We started off the day by making 100 hundred handprints!

Mr. Debrick taught our gym class.

What a special surprise!

We even got to do the parachute!

Back in the classroom we were hopping our way to 100!

Hip, hip hooray...

It's our 100th Day!

The kids also enjoyed sharing their 100 items.

We balanced them to see which would be the heaviest.

After reading another story about Miss Bindergarten...

We set off on some 100 day adventures.

We went on a number hunt,
trying to find as many numbers as we could hiding the classroom.

We also worked hard to count out our 100 day snack.

We had to use the tongs which was a little tricky!
We counted out 10 of 10 snack items to make a total of 100!
Then we headed outside for a quick picture sliding into our 100th day of school!

In the afternoon we were busy making 100 out of pattern blocks.

The kids also enjoyed building creations with 100 stacking cups.

We even painted 100 dots!

Of course we enjoyed eating our 100 day snack!

It was a SUPER 100th day of school!

Tuesday brought some mitten adventures.

We even headed outside to paint some mittens in a very special way.

AND it was a chance to get our wiggles out!

We snuck back inside where it was nice and cozy to fix some mixed up mittens.

They had to read the word on the mittens.

Then line them up to make a sentence.

They even got to use GIANT mitten tongs as a pointer as they read the sentence.

The kids also worked hard to match up some missing mittens.

Once they found the match, they had to write the word down.
In the afternoon the kids had a very special art project.

They used bubble wrap to paint their heart!

They also enjoyed measuring some mittens.

After reading this special story by our illustrator of the month,

The kids used some giant mittens to tell their own stories.

Then they turned it into a subtraction problem.

5 animals - 2 animals the fell out = 3 animals still left in the mitten

Our week wasn't quite done...

Wednesday we bundled up and headed to music class.

We practiced our rhythm AND jumping skills!

We are quite the jumpers!

Back in the classroom we were working on a tricky game called "Snowflake Switch".

Each child worked on their own to create words using the snowflakes.

They even made nonsense words.

We read another great story by Jan Brett called The Hat.  Ask your child what the surprise ending was at the end of the story!

Out in the hallway we went on a "WINTER WEAR" word hunt.

The kid had to find the words hiding on the hats, gloves, and scarves.

Then they circled it on their paper.

In science we were talking about animals that live OVER and UNDER the the snow.

The kids had a blast creating their own hibernation station.

Thursday we kicked off the day with more building and creating.

Then we headed over to chapel which was led by Pastor Rouland and his friend Rupert!
We also celebrated some special baptismal birthdays.

The kids LOVED reading this hilarious book when we headed back to class.

We tried to flip a few animals off of our sled.

The kids had a BLAST practicing subtracting the animals as they fell off of the sled.

Our reading stations had us searching for words hidden in the classroom.

They were hiding on scarves, hats, and mittens.

This time they highlighted the word on their paper.

We also went out in the hallway to do a little "sledding".

They sent their letter sled down the ramp.

As they said the sound of each letter, they put it all together to make a word!

In the afternoon they were busy working on a snowy background.

They will get to add their winter self-portrait to the scene.

We made it to Friday!

Mrs. Coons subbed for Mrs. Jennings.

The kids enjoyed using the parachute again!

We were excited to celebrate FOOTBALL FRIDAY!

We put our game faces on and got to work...

Another fun subtraction game... we were subtracting FUMBLES!
The kids teamed up and played a little game of catch.

We wrote the number sentence to match their catches and fumbles.

For our reading stations we were busy matching up letter footballs to beginning sounds.

The kids also played a matching CVC football player game.

It was a FOOTBALL FRENZY!

Next up was matching the footballs to the right football players.

Out in the hallway Mrs. Collins helped the kids play a football relay race.

They had to hop over the circles
and grab the right cone.
They brought the cone back to their teammates and put it together to make a sentence.
What time is it?  GAME TIME!
We had a surprise Friday reader in the morning!

Lucas' mom came and read to us a hilarious story about SNEEZY the SNOWMAN!  It was a perfect way to end our morning.

In the afternoon we were busy doing more football subtraction.

We did a lot of cheering too!

We have quite the football players in this class!

The kids also enjoyed playing a football card game.

We are still working on our game faces when we play cards.  :)

It was quite the week of adventures...

We will see what we have to face next week...
