WHEW! The storm blew in quite a few adventures this week.
The coldness couldn't stop our smiles.
And we had a great time building and creating during our free time.
Mrs. Jennings started a basketball unit with the kids.
They had a blast practicing their dribbling skills.
Dribbling from their knees was an extra challenge they tried!
After reading this sweet story about a Christmas tree. We compared it to a little pumpkin book we read in October. The kids did a GREAT job of remembering and comparing.
Then the kids got to work making a "reading tree".
They had to read the word on the cup,
then stack it up to design a tree.
When they were done,
they could add a few decorations.
In the afternoon, we were busy painting our own trees.
The decorations were put on the tree too!
Tuesday the kids had the challenge of a sentence pyramid.
They had to put the words in the correct order first.
Once they got it all done, they noticed it looked like a Christmas tree!
They worked together to figure out what their sentence said.
Delivering presents was another activity the kids enjoyed doing.
They took a gift that had a letter on it.
Then they delivered it to the tree that had the matching picture.
The last step was to take inventory of all the presents they delivered.
More cups came out in the afternoon. 
This time the kids had to figure out how to use a variety of sizes to make a tree.
The challenge of using tweezers to decorate was next on their list of things to do.
They also had a BLAST with this math game.
First they had to build a ramp and pick a solid shape.
Then they sent the solid shape down the ramp to see if it would slide or roll.
Whatever number the shape landed on or closest to,
they had to write that number down.
Wednesday, Mrs. Crumrine brought out a new instrument.
The kids are working on a special Christmas song!
They did a great job of following directions.
Next we headed over to chapel.
Pastor Rouland led chapel, but he had a special friend helping him!
His puppet friend Gary reminded us that Advent is a very special time
of waiting and preparing for Christmas.
We also celebrated Amelia's baptismal birthday.
Back in the classroom we were busy chopping down "heart word " trees.
After matching up the trees, the kids chopped them down!
In the afternoon, the kids had so much fun creating their own Christmas trees!
Some made them stand tall...
Others created trees that laid flat.
The kids also worked hard to create an Advent wreath.
They used different painting tools to create these beautiful Advent masterpieces.
Every week we will get to add a flame to one of the candles.
Thursday brought more cold weather and LOTS of smiles!
In math these little elves delivered some shape presents.
Once the presents were delivered,
one friend built some kind of creation with all of the shapes.
After reading this hilarious story about an elf who falls asleep,
the kids did some fun elf reading adventures.
In this game, they had to deliver the right letter lights to make a word.
In the afternoon we bundled up and made our way over to the church basement.
We sang a few of our favorite songs for the Ladies Aide Christmas party!
We even went around and gave them high fives...
A few back scratches were delivered too!
We couldn't leave without sharing some hugs too!
The kids did a GREAT job of being brave and sharing the love of Jesus with these lovely ladies. These ladies were SO kind and gave each of the kids a little stuffed Christmas puppy.
Friday we put our game faces on and practiced shooting!
Mrs. Jennings lowered the basketball hoops
and gave the kids a chance to shoot some hoops.
We have quite the ball players in this group!
In math we pretended to be trains but we had to stop at different shapes in the classroom. These kids stopped at a cone shape.
This boy had to stop at a sphere shape.
Some more elf adventures POPPED up in our room!
We read this hilarious book,
and the kids were very EXCITED to build their own elf traps.
Before they could build, they had to read the words on the blocks.
Then it was time to set their traps.
Our light game was back, but this time the kids really got to light up the words!
After they found the correct light bulb letters to make their word,
they locked in the sound by pushing the special lights for each sound.
The kids did a great job of hearing each sound in the word.
They took turns being in charge of the vowels and the consonants in each word.
They LOVED this reading adventure.
In the afternoon the kids enjoyed working with flat shapes and solid shapes.
They had to figure out how to use them both to build something.
It got a little tricky to build a tall tower!
Our Friday Reader finished off our week with a an AMAZING book!
Jameson's mom brought a pop-up COLOR MONSTER book! The kids LOVED it!
A great finish to a great week!
