A SPOOKtacular Week!

LEAVE it to us to us to pack a short with LOTS of adventures!

Mrs. Jennings started off our week with a great game called "Junk Yard"!

The kids had to throw all the balls onto the other side.

The other team was trying to throw them all back!

In our classroom we were busy reading about a lady who swallowed some leaves.  In the end all the things she swallowed turns into a scarecrow!

The "leaf thief" was in our classroom taking leaves from the trees and dropping them on the ground.

We were busy sorting the leaves on our 10 frame and making sure we had a total of 10.

We were also busy scaring up some words.

I showed the kids a scarecrow with a picture on it.  The kids had to use magnetic letters to spell the word.

Then they made their best scary faces...

to make the correct spelling appear!

The kids had SO much fun doing this scarecrow relay race.
First they had to figure out what word they were trying to spell.

Then they had to go find the right letter,
which was attached to a piece of clothing!

Next they had to line up to spell the word correctly.
Who knew scarecrows could be such good readers!

We read another surprise story about  a Little Old Lady, but she wasn't scared of anything. In the end, she also turned everything into a scarecrow.

A bunch of scarecrows popped up in the afternoon.

The kindergartners worked with pattern blocks
and attribute blocks to create scarecrows.

These scary scarecrows could scare any crows away!
OR they might just make you smile!  :)

The kids also enjoyed painting with leaves!

It got a little messy,

but the leaves made some very interesting prints.

First the kids painted the leaves.

The kids were so surprised at how they made print!

The kids were also busy playing a scarecrow game.

First the kids rolled the dice.

They put a seed on that scarecrow number.

The next step was to put that many magnets in the ten frame.

Their partner had to fill in the rest of the ten frame.

The kids are doing a great job of working with 10 frames!

Another great day headed your way...

More fun ways to make 10.  This time we were planting pumpkins.

If we didn't  have enough pumpkins to make 10,

we filled in the empty spaces with pumpkin seeds.

The kids were busy digging in the pumpkin to play this game.

The kids had to sort the letters by uppercase and lowercase letters.

The kids were also busy going on a candy corn hunt.

Once they found the candy corn letter, they wrote it down on their paper.
The kids were also up for the challenge to make some candy corn puzzles.

Once they completed the puzzles, the kids wrote the letter down.

The kids were SUPER excited to hear the story about SPOOKLEY again!

Then they worked to create their own Spookley pumpkin.

Mrs. Crumrine started off our Wednesday with a fun pumpkin song.

The kids passed the pumpkin around until...

their were only two friends left.

Mrs. Cooper led our chapel on Wednesday.

She reminded us that we are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses that help us learn about God.

Back in the classroom some rhyming pumpkins appeared!

After reading this AMAZING nonfiction book,

the kids dug into the pumpkins to see what's inside.

The kids looked in a small,
medium,

and a big pumpkin.

Miss Steinbacher stopped by to play a fun game to help the kids practice their memory verse.

Miss Steinbacher does a fantastic job of helping the kids learn more about Jesus.

Thursday morning we headed outside to watch the 8th graders ROCKET LAUNCH!
If you look carefully you can see the rocket flying through the air!

The kids couldn't believe how high it fly!

They had a great time cheering for the rockets!

When we headed back to our classroom, we read one of my favorite pumpkin stories.  It is such a great reminder of God's amazing love and forgiveness.

The kids worked together to tell the story of 5 lil' pumpkins sitting on a gate.

First they had to build some gates.

They did an incredible job of designing gates!

The kids had fun bowling over letter sounds.

They picked a pumpkin and had to figure out what the picture on the pumpkin started with.
Then they looked for the letter that matched that sound.
Next they tried to knock over the pumpkin that was closest to that letter.
The kids also enjoyed going on a pumpkin word hunt.

When they found the word, they wrote it down.

Finally it was time to party!

A bunch of fun people came and helped us!

The kids were challenged by a candy corn relay race.

They also enjoyed a YUMMY snack!

Another great activity was making a special key chain.

It even had their name on it!

The kids also worked hard to make cards for our homebound friends.

These special friends will LOVE to get cards from us!

The kids also ventured outside to play a ring toss game.

They had to toss the ring on the long pumpkin stem.

What a great way to end our week!

What???  The week is already over???

Don't worry!  We will be back soon...
