SEW Much to Tell You!

Are you ready to see what we were UP to?

We had fun reading the LITTLE QUACK series as we worked on the "qu" sound as well as "ck".

We were also busy giving some fish to ducks!

We were listening for the "sh" sound on our fish.

If it ended with "sh", we put it under the back of the duck.

If it started with "sh", we set it on top on this duck.

We had to be careful not to lose any of our fish!

Mrs. Martin was back to teach us more Spanish!

This time we were learning about our colors with the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear.

The kids did a great job of listening and learning!

We were also busy working on heavy and light this week.

The kids reached in the saCK and found a duCK or a bloCK.

Then they used stiCKs to try to get it to balance.

Mrs. Crumrine was busy with instruments this week.

The kids kept a steady beat as she played the recorder.

Then she got a drum!  The kids loved taking turns playing the drum!

The parachute was back in gym this week!

This time we went on a walk to find the perfect "picnic spot".
Then it started to "rain", so we shook our parachute to make it sound like rain.
We raised the parachute high in the air to show the sun coming out!

Next it was time for the little ants to crawl under our picnic blanket.

The last thing we did was put "food" on our blanket.

The kids worked hard to get it to stay on the blanket.

It was a great picnic adventure!

But wait... our week wasn' t done yet!

Back in the classroom we were learning about vegetables.

The farmer picked a word and
asked the helpers to  pick the right alphabet carrots to match.
Once they got their letter,

they drove it the next helper who picked the next alphabet carrot.

Then the farmer had to make sure all the letters were in the right order.

Ta da!  We grew a word!

The kids also enjoyed driving the alphabet fruit and vegetables to the market.

Once they got there, everyone in their group had to practice writing the letter.

We were also on a flower hunt.

The kids read and wrote down as many flowers as they could find.
Ms. Steinbacher was back in the afternoon
helping the kids make a mosiac-style masterpiece of their memory verse.

More VEGGIE FUN!
This time the kids painted with veggies!
Who knew asparagus made such a great paint brush!

Of course we had to sample some veggies!

The kids were very brave
and tried two veggies.
Some were surprised at how much they liked veggies!
They even tasted frozen corn and frozen peas (I ate them that way when I was a kid!).

Others weren't a big fan of the veggies.
Veggies can be messy,

but boy did we have fun!

Chapel had us moving and a shaking!

We celebrated the story of ASCENSION with Mrs. Lohman.

She sure knows how to get us on our feet praising God!  THEREFORE GO GO GO!

Lots of special baptismal birthdays this time.

Back the classroom were very excited to talk about quilts. The kids all had special stories to share.
We read this WONDERFUL story about showing kindness.  The kids are excited to start making a "kindness quilt" in our classroom too!

We had fun playing this little quilt matching game
as we listened for rhyming words.

Our tangrams had popcorn words hidden on them.
The kids had fun using them to create a tangram "quilt".

We also had fun creating with q-tips!

As fun as all of that was...

The best part of our day was meeting Nanny! She reminded us of our Bible story about Tabitha.

Nanny sews quilts and then gives them away to boys and girls that go to a special Bible camp.

After teaching us about sewing and telling her story,
She let each kiddo sew their own quilt block!

They were SO proud of their creations!

We definitely have some future quilters in the group!

The kids LOVED talking to Nanny, and she couldn't believe what a great group of boys and girls I have!

I agree!

We started off Friday with a special Friday reader!

Grace's grandma came and got us ready to go to the beach!

She even surprised us with seashells!

It was a great way to start our day!

The letter x was back with the "x-ray" machine!

The kids received some mixed up letters.
First they had to try to figure out what the correct word was.
Then they turned on the x-ray machine
to check the word stick that was swallowed...
When they read the stick, they were SO excited!

These x-ray word readers are X-cellent!

After reading this hilarious book...

We named our butterflies, and then set them free.

At first they didn't want to leave!

The kids were excited to watch them fly!

One of them even landed on Zane's shoe!  It didn't want to leave!
We are hoping we get to see them again on the preschool playground!

GEAR up for another busy week coming your way...
