It was shaping up to be another GREAT week!
Actually it was a TREEmendous week as we talked a lot about Christmas trees.
We worked on beginning and ending sounds in this Christmas tree alphabet game.
They had to drive their car to the right alphabet tree to match the beginning or ending sound of a word I called out.
We also challenged ourselves with the cvc Christmas tree puzzles.
They had to find the right word that matched the picture on their tree.
They were so proud of themselves when they completed a tree!
The kids also enjoyed delivering presents to the correct trees.
They had to match the letter to the correct picture on the tree.
Ta da! "We got it all done!"
These number trees were all out of order. They worked together to line them up.
The kids had a blast making stacking cup Christmas trees!
Once they had their tree built, they had to add the decorations!
It took a lot of concentration...
Sometimes the trees fell down!
More shape adventures headed our way on Tuesday...
The kids partnered up and played a quick game of I spy with shapes.
They had to describe it as flat or solid first. Then say the name of the shape they were thinking of.
Then they could give one more clue after that.
In this game the kids were working on matching rhyming Christmas trees.
The kids were hard at work putting our alphabet Christmas trees in the alphabetical order.
Once they did that they had to figure out which tree got taken.
The special tweezers were back! This time they were using them to pick up pompoms.
They had to use the pompoms to cover up the picture that matched the ornament letter they pulled out.
The number trees helped the kids play a missing tree game.
When they covered their eyes, a tree disappeared.
The kids had to write down the number of the tree that was gone.
These tricky trees required some thinking...
They had to line up their rectangles from largest to smallest.
When they were done it turned into a fancy Christmas tree.
Our clay and sticks were special tools that helped us make shapes.
Some drew the shapes in the clay with the sticks.
Some stamped the shapes with lids.
Others used the sticks to make the shapes.
We were getting in SHAPE with our Reindeer Relay races.
These little reindeers worked hard as they grabbed the sphere out of the cylinder.
Then they hopped over the square.
They had to hop on the two circles.
Carefully they weaved in and out of the cones.
They hurdled over the final cone.
and slammed the sphere to the ground!
Sometimes those spheres were tricky and got away from us!
Then they dashed back to their teammates!
On Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, and Vixen
On Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen!
They did a GREAT job of cheering for their reindeer friends!
Back in the classroom it was time for more reindeer games.
They were busy feeding Rudolph some carrots!
Whatever picture was on the carrot, the kids had to find to the right Rudolph to match the ending sound.
They had a blast lighting up Rudolph's nose!
They had to listen for the /r/ sound and put Rudolph's nose in the right spot. Beginning, middle, or end of the word.
Rudolph's ring toss game and the kids working hard in the hallway.
Whatever word they landed on,
they had to write it down on their board.
Ms. Steinbacher was back with a great activity to help us with our memory verse!
The kids each received a musical bell.
They had to play their color of bell to match the word and note.
Each word was part of their memory verse! Thanks Ms. Steinbacher for another fun learning activity!
Rudolph was busy helping us with our numbers.
The kids had to roll the dice
and then cover up the ten frame that matched that number.
With Thursday came more adventures!
We started off with chapel as TWO candles were lit this week.
Pastor Rouland brought a friend to help him lead chapel... RUPERT!
Thank you so much for your generosity!
Back in the classroom we were playing a fun shape game.
The kids had to close their eyes. When they opened them, they had to describe where their friend was hiding in relation to the shape!
Norah is next to the cone.
The sphere is between Samson's feet.
Levi is on the cubes! This one took a lot of balance!
The cylinder is between Max and Zane.
This alphabet tree helped us spell out words.
Mrs. Cowgill called out a cvc word. The kids had to dab the letters that spelled that word.
Who knew spelling could become such a masterpiece! :)
Mrs. Donner was back with an amazing tool called a SPHERO!
The kids had to drive the sphero with the Ipad.
Each cone had a word on it. Mrs. Donner called out the word they were trying to drive the SPHERO to.
They had SO much fun playing this fun word game!
The kids also enjoyed our Christmas tree farm game. The farmer grabbed "word trees"
and delivered them to the customers.
The customers wrote down the words they received and then built a tree tower.
We had a very busy afternoon on Thursday...
We started off by singing some fun songs for the Ladies Aid.
The kids did a GREAT job of singing and passing out special bookmarks they had made.
They passed out a few hugs along the way.
I was so proud of how they spread God's love through songs and smiles!
When we headed outside for an exciting recess, we found some familiar faces!
Our recess also included a very special Christmas project!

We finished our day building with shapes.
First the kids had to roll a dice
to see what shape they had to build with.
As they stacked more and more shapes up
they discovered some shapes were easier to build with than others!
These boys worked SO hard to keep adding more and more shapes!
They were very proud of their final creation!
Everyone was very creative with their amazing shape designs!
After reading The Biggest Christmas Tree Ever,
the kids set to work designing their own BIGGEST Christmas trees.
Some stacked their trees up tall.
While others laid it out flat.
They were surprised at how unique their trees were!
Our Friday was jammed packed with excitement!
We had a surprise Friday Reader in the morning to celebrate our birthday boy!
Max's dad came to read to us a hilarious book about how to catch an elf!
It was a great way to kick off the day!
After reading about an old lady who swallowed a bell...
The kids took some x-rays of a the old lady to see what word she swallowed.
I gave them a clue, and they had to write down what three letter word they thought she swallowed.
Then they checked the x-ray to see if they were right!
The kids LOVED this activity!
They also were busy going on a letter hunt
as they wrote down the letters that they found hiding on these different shaped boxes.
Time for the mystery bell game!
The kids had to close their eyes.
One friend hid the bell under a word cup.
The kids had to write down the word of the cup where the bell was hiding.
Their creative minds were hard at work
as they worked together to build a new sleigh for Santa.
Look at the jet power on this sleigh!
These two even found a friend to drive the sleigh!
We finished our fun week with a WONDERFUL Friday reader!
She read a GREAT book about a POUT POUT fish!
As always it was the best way to end our Friday!
We can't wait to continue our journey to the manger continues next week...
