Kindergarten... Here we come!

Hooray!  Let the learning adventures begin!

The kids did a GREAT job of coming in

and finding things to build and create!

Some friends drew pictures for people in their family.
Finding friends put smiles on our faces.

Making new friends made us smile too!

We started off the morning reading The Kissing Hand
It is a great reminder that our parents' love is with us even when we can't see them.

You can watch the video of the story with your child if they are having a hard time going back to school on Monday.  :)

Next we counted how many days we have been in school... ONE!  That was pretty easy to count!  We also worked on sky writing.  Ask your child to show you the special way we "sky write".

For Jesus Time we sang a silly praise song that got us moving.  We also met a puppet named Jelly that will be joining us throughout the year.

Everybody couldn't wait to get to recess!

The kids really enjoy being on the "big kid" playground now.

We found a balance beam...

lots of monkeys on this playground...

and we even found some familiar faces!
Next up was taking a little walk to get our picture taken.

The whole school got together to take a very special picture!

The kids had a little free time to read on their own or with a friend.
We also read a book called Miss Bindergarten Get Ready for Kindergarten.

We will get to read this book again next week, as we create our own story about getting ready for kindergarten.

FINALLY it was lunchtime!!!!

We ended our day with ACTIVITY TIME.

The kids enjoyed creating and building with different materials.

We also made our own KISSING HANDS.

We finished day one of kindergarten tired but full of SMILES!

Day 2 ...

our creative brains were hard at work.

The kids really enjoyed creating with these foam shapes.

Some snakes

and lizards snuck into our room!

These two kiddos were full of giggles as they tried to create a tall, TALL tower together!

During Jesus Time we talked about SHOES!

Each pair of shoes had a different job... running,

protecting us from the rain and mud.

, and fancy shoes for church.

No two pair of shoes were the same.  No matter how big or little the shoes were they each had a job.  We are like shoes.  Some of us are good at running, singing, or drawing.  No matter what we are good at God has given us a VERY important job...to show GOD's LOVE to everyone!

After reading some our favorite Pete the Cat books...

We took our special number telescopes

and went looking for Pete's shoes.

The shoes had numbers on them,

so we followed the numbers all over our campus.

Number four led us to Mr. Marolf's door.
He had lots of fun shoes to show us!

He even has a pair of polka shoes!
The kids were quite impressed with his shoe collection!

We had to carefully cross the sidewalk to follow the numbers to the church.

We finally found number 10 by the church.

Then we discovered there are actually numbers EVERYWHERE we look!

Back in the classroom we read this hilarious book about sharing,

so the kids worked hard to share trays of pattern blocks.

I LOVED watching them come up with such unique designs!
Some kids made tall towers,

while others found unique ways to build.

Some friends even figured out if you work together...

you can make really interesting towers!
We even learned to share smiles!  :)

After reading Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons,
we rolled the dice and added buttons to Pete the Cat.  We talked about who had more and less.

Day 3 started off with a friendship DANCE PARTY!

Shake a friends hand, shake a hand next to you...

SING LA LA!

A hug a friend, hug a friend next to you...

Jesus is a friend He's a friend next to you.  Jesus is a friend so sing LA LA!
It was the perfect way to start our day!

We also had a fire drill!  They were so brave and did a GREAT job!
The kids were excited to help me tell this fun story...

They each got a letter to add to the tree.

When they heard their letter, they came up...

and stuck it to the Chicka Chicka BOOM BOOM tree!

Next up was building an alphabet creation.

They had to try to balance the alphabet cubes some how.

Look at these alphabet bridges!

This little girl made a SEESAW!
This little guy figured out how to make the cubes go down the ramp!

They also had fun creating with the magnetic letters and magnatiles.

This boy even wanted to create a word search with the letters and wanted to find letters to make a word!

The kids also enjoyed using the wooden people and squares to create.
This little girl made a school!  She lined all the children up to learn.

I just LOVE watching their creative minds at work!

In the afternoon we were doing some more alphabet balancing.

This time we were trying to build trees!

It was quite the balancing act!

It was a little tricky to get them to balance on the tubes.

Sometimes it took a little teamwork!

It was an EXCITING week filled with adventures...

and LOTS of SMILES!!!   :)
