This week was packed with "SEW" many smiles and fun visitors!
Even after several bonus questions, the kids were still stumped!
The kids were surprised to discover it was Mrs. Koenen!
Some kids even had her as a teacher assistant last year, and they didn't recognize her!
Mrs. Koenen is a teacher in Mrs. Oswald's half day preschool class!
We love our Masked Readers!
We practiced using a ruler,
But we also worked on comparing length and height.
They enjoyed comparing shoe sizes.
They were surprised to discover a lot of them had the same size of feet!
They were also busy creating living things.
Can you guess what these living things are?
The kids also enjoyed creating Vincent Van Gogh's Sunflower painting.
They followed step by step instructions, but they were all different!
We had a wonderful visitor help us out on Tuesday.
Miss Autumn was "kindergarten teacher for a day"!
She was a GREAT helper and teacher!
She helped us learn all about quilting.
These quilt squares had words on them too!
We also were busy playing quilter BINGO!
Comparing the length of the quilts was another challenge we had.
Another special visitor joined us in the afternoon.
It was Autumn's grandma (Nanny)! She taught us all about quilting. She is an amazing lady who makes quilts for kids and grown-ups in need. It was a great way to connect our Bible story about Tabitha.
Then Nanny even taught the kids how to sew!
Each child sewed four squares together.
The kids were SO proud of their tiny quilt creations.
The kids also enjoyed making quilt squares using the geoboards.
This group discovered a way to connect their squares to make a giant "quilt".
We loved our time with Miss Autumn.
She will make an AWESOME teacher!
We were working hard in gym class this week.
The kids did FOUR CORNERS butterfly style.
First they did egg squats, then caterpillar crawls.
Next up was spin jump cocoons.
Last they jumped like a butterfly!
Lots of hugs for Mrs. Coad as we finished up another fun music class.
We were busy with veggies this week too! They pulled out the "seed packet" words.
They planted the carrots into the ground.
Great GROWING!
We were sad to see our special friends leave,
but we knew it was time to let them spread their wings and fly!
Some of our butterflies had a hard time leaving too!
We will keep an eye out of our little friends flying around!
Miss Pam is actually one of our wonderful cooks, but she is also a florist!
The kids loved having her come.
She showed us all kinds of flowers and seeds.
She even did an experiment showing us how stems work.
The kids had a lot of questions for Miss Pam
and lots of high fives
and hugs.
Then it was time to get a little messy.
The kids had a blast painting with veggies!
They also enjoyed building gardens.
The best part was taste testing a variety of veggies!
They were SO brave and tried all kinds of veggies!!!
Some friends weren't too excited,
but most couldn't get enough.
They even asked to have more the next day!
SOOOO... we did!
A bunch of farmers showed up on Thursday.
The kids worked together to create their own farms.
We were busy comparing tractors.
Then they had to go on a hunt looking for things that were the same as, longer than, and shorter than the combine.
A tractor came and delivered some letters.
It was challenge to take the letters off the tractor
and turn them into a word.
CLICK CLACK TYPE! The kids were busy making words at this farm.
They had to find the wagon that matched their tractor.
Next up was putting it all together to make a word.
Finally they typed it out!
We had two special visitors Thursday!
First up was Paul John's mom!
She talked to us about being a fire fighter!
She also did an experiment showing us how fire works.
We had LOTS of questions for her!
We wished she could have stayed all day! :)
We also had a great time with Mr. Thoelke.
We talked to him about his amazing talent to play the organ.
He showed us some special things he needs to play the organ... like his shoes!
He also showed us how the pipes work.
He even demonstrated how powerful the organ can be!
We had a great time listening and learning from Mr. Thoelke.
Our x-ray vision was hard at work on Friday.
The kids were trying to guess what the Little Old Lady swallowed.
The kids each received three letter cards,
that they tried to put the letters together to make a word.
The kids checked the x-ray of the little old lady to see if they were right!
EXCELLENT job!
The Word Wizard was hard at work.
Everyone had to close their eyes.
The WORD WIZARD hid a word in the mystery box.
Everyone else had to guess what word was hiding in the box.
One more visitor to finish off our week...
Our Friday Reader came with a book and a smile!
It was another perfect way to end our week!
Another fun week of building memories that will hopefully last a life time!
