YAY! We started off the week with some amazing weather!
We were looking to do a little balancing this week.
Different heart shaped containers and objects were put on one side of the balance.
Then the kids tried out candy hearts or plastic rings.
They counted how many it took to get it to balance.
The kids also enjoyed looking at old valentines. Clara found two valentines with her brother and sister's names on them!
Then they put them in the trays and practiced adding them together.
They traced over all of the numbers that they used in the number sentence.
We were also getting ready for Valentine's Day by making some very special pictures.
Your child should have come home with this special masterpiece.
Hopefully they gave it to you!
Mailbox adventures helped us practiced our reading skills.
The kids picked a valentine and made sure it got to the right mailbox.
We also had some monsters that were trying to deliver the right valentines.
These weren't just any monsters.
They were our sight word monsters!
Valentine's Day had arrived!
We had a little bit of learning adventures to complete before our party!
First our broken hearts needed a little fixing.
Then it was time to deliver our valentines.
Everyone had such unique boxes!
They were so proud of them and excited to share them with their friends.
From John Deere tractors
to R2D2 we had it all!
Then it was time to deliver the valentines.
It was a little challenging trying to match everyone's name up.
The kids did a great job!
Finally, it was time to PARTY!
One of our stations was creating a very special piece of artwork.
The kids worked so hard to get everything lined up just right.
They also had a blast creating these beautiful valentine wreathes.
They added a lot of fun details to it!
Next up was assembling a valentine creation.
Look at this fun friend!
Some friends even made kitties!
The kids got moving and shaking in the Commons.
They were tossing ping pong balls into a valentine box.
It was a little more challenging trying to get it in the box by bounce!
A valentine relay race kept the kids on their toes...
They had to do whatever exercise was on the heart.
Then they ran down to the other side and put the heart down.
These kids were completely exhausted by the time they were done!
We just might have to play this game again! :)

Our GREAT Olympic event finally arrived!
We were all set for the Kids Heart Challenge!
The kids did a fantastic job of getting those hearts working hard.
They were busy jumping over the long rope.
Hula hooping and short rope also kept them moving.
The helicopter game was a little tricky at first.
The kids got the hang of it and had a great time!
An obstacle course also challenged them to keep moving.
They did a GREAT job jumping over hurdles.
A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Steinbacher for organizing all of this!
Back in the classroom we were making these little people do a few exercises.
They also helped with our reading!
Once the kids read their word, they lined it up with their "friends".
Stoplight reading was another challenge we had.
As we said the sound we smashed the play-doh.
Stoplights also helped us talk about healthy eating.
Green light foods: GO! These are healthy foods that make your body feel good and work great.
Yellow light foods: SLOW DOWN. They are ok for our bodies but not the healthiest choice.
Red light foods: STOP. These foods have no nutritional value, and should be eaten once in awhile.
Some yummy food showed up to help us with our adding.
The kids took turns rolling the dice.
Then they placed the food on the plates to match the number that was rolled.
To finish it off they wrote a number sentence to match their yummy plate of food.
The hockey pucks were back!
The kids LOVED playing this game.
They added up how many hit the goal and how many missed the goal.
4+6=10
These little bobsled creations had the kids SO excited!
We pretended these pipes were a "bobsled" course for the olympics.
It was so exciting to watch their brains at work trying to figure out how to get the marble to the bottom.
They did a great job of working together.

More mailboxes popped up to finish off the week.
They each picked a card.
The card had to be delivered to the right mailbox.
Some of the mail was words,
some of it was numbers, and some it was letters.
We talked a lot about being a "bucket filler".
This is another one of my absolute favorite books! If you have not read it, I encourage you to read it with your child. We are working on filling each others' buckets! When friends are bothering us or being mean, we talked about how we can put a "lid" on our how bucket. We shouldn't let it ruin our day. Our friend might just need a little kindness to turn their day around (that usually applies to grown-ups too! 😀)
We played a little bucket reading game.
The kids took three letters from the bucket and put it together to make a nonsense word!
We had bigger buckets to help us with our math!
We added ping pong balls.
3 makes + 7 misses= 10 tosses
For our memory verse artwork, we made it rain!
Some kids made quite the rainstorm. It even got a little "rain" on their faces! :)
"Be still and know that I am God!"
More bucket filling adventures...
This time we used the tweezers to fill up the big cups
and the little cups.
Then they practiced adding the two cups together!
God is LOVE!
Hang on... more fun adventures headed our way next week!
