We definitely weren't snoozing on the job this week!
We were very busy this week...
We kicked off Monday with Pajama Day!
From rainbow pajamas
to princess pj's!
We had it all!
Of course there were superhero pajamas
and Christmas jammies too!
It was a GREAT way to start off our week!
It's PAJAMA TIME!
We loved starting our day with a little conga line in our pajamas!
Nothing beats dancing in your pjs!
The kids ZIPPED right through this game!
They picked some pajamas from a laundry basket.
Then they read the word...
and sent it down the "clothes line" to their partner.
The partner double checked the word.
Typing the word out was the next step.
We kept good inventory of our zip-line pajamas!
We also had fun going on a pajama hunt!
The kids went around the room looking for pajamas.
The pajamas had words hiding on them.
Once they found the word
they crossed it off of their list!
We had a little "pillow fight" with this game!
The kids picked a word from the bucket.
They had to read it and match it to the right pillow.
Then they wrote it down on their list.
The kids also enjoyed reading to their special stuffies.
Our little stuffies were such good listeners.
We might just have to have them join us again some time!
Our stuffies also helped us do a little subtraction.
One friend took some of the stuffies away and the kids figured out how many were left!
5 stuffies - 1 stuffie =4 stuffies
In the afternoon, we read this great book by our illustrator of the month Jan Brett.
But first we watched a video of Jan Brett taking us step by step
on how to draw a hedge hog just like the character in the book.
We have some VERY good illustrators in this group.
The kids also had fun designing beds
then having some of the people fall out!
This helped them practice their subtraction.
We had quite the amazing bed designs!
There were 5 in the bed and the little one said "ROLL OVER"...
This pillow game had us practicing writing our numbers.
One person hid a number under a pillow (yes that is my pillow that is shaped like a foot!),
everybody else had to guess which number was missing!
I hope Pajama Day was everything they DREAMED of!
Tuesday was FASHION DISASTER day!
It was also a great day to celebrate how unique we all are.
The kids used their free time in the morning
to make some amazing creations!
We then started off the morning with a "SILLY DANCE CONTEST"

After these crazy moves we settled down and talked about how special God made us.
This probably is one of my favorite books. If you haven't read it, please do! It is such a great book for kids and grown-ups too!

We were connecting these people together
to make words.
We noticed we could even make the people dance! :)
Then we wrote down the words we made.
Our next silly activity was the game "SWITCH".
We switched one letter to see what silly words we could make.
If it was a silly word, we practiced talking like "aliens" to put the sounds together.
Next up was using our "alien hands"
to make the shape of the letters.
This silly activity is helping the kids with their fine motor skills to help with their pencil grip.

The Silly Subtraction Game Show arrived in our classroom.
The contestants subtracted by throwing things to their partner.
The partner worked REALLY hard to catch it!
The third contestant locked in the answer by tapping it with the magic wand.
The kids were very nervous about the final round!
I was attempting to throwing 4 giant wooden blocks at Mrs. Wood!
Here's the wind up...
Turns out the number sentence was 5-0=5, so I never threw any blocks to Mrs. Wood. ;)
By far my favorite activity of the week was reminding the kids how special they are.
We were able to hold these special little babies.
These are fetal models we borrowed from the church.
This one represents a baby that is 30 weeks old.
The kids were SO amazed at how tiny the babies were.
Even though the baby isn't even born yet, we talked about God still knows and loves that baby very much!
The kids LOVED learning about what the baby could do even though it was inside its mommy's tummy still.
This 24 week old baby can hiccup, kick, and has a heartbeat.
They couldn't believe how heavy the baby was!
This little baby is only 7 weeks old!
They could not believe how tiny it was!
It was a great reminder how much God loves and cares for us before we are even born.

Around the World Day
brought all kinds of fun costumes to our classroom!
We were visiting the North Pole and South Pole as we did the iceberg shuffle.
We sorted our popcorn words onto the right icebergs.
Then we did a little fishing for words.
Once we caught a fish...
we fed it to the polar bear.
These little penguins were sending their cubes to their friends.
Inside the ice cube was a letter.
The kids had to put the letters together to make a word!
They had to do it quickly
before the ice cube became a puddle!
The polar bear was back in the afternoon to help us with our subtraction.
The kids closed their eyes
while a friend fed the polar bear some fish.
When they opened their eyes
they had to guess how many fish were inside the polar bear.
Then they traced the number to match.
We also were excited to play another round of SPLASH (penguin version of Go Fish).
You have to think carefully before you ask for a penguin.
The kids had fun making some interesting designs with yarn.
They just might waddle away!
Thursday was a nice chance to get away for the day! :)
We've got spirit yes we do! We've got spirit how about you?!
Here is a little peek into how we finished the week!
We started off the day heading down to the gym for a whole group assembly!
The kids were so excited to see what was going to happen.
They LOVED listening to Mr. Maddick lead our devotion time.
He talked about the story of Jesus walking on the water.
Then the cheerleaders came out and led us in some fun cheers.
The kids were amazed at what they could do!
They were excited to see Boomer the Bobcat too!
The cheerleaders inspired us to do a little cheering of our own!
We were cheering for our letters!
We practiced cheering for our letter and letter sounds.
"Give me an 'S'! What does that say?"
After reading another great Tacky story,
we did a few winter Olympic winter games of our own.
We were doing some down hill skiing
as we hopped over these iceberg sight words (popcorn words).
They had to hop over each word four times
before moving on to the next word.
They were definitely worn out after this game.
Next up was ice hockey!
The kids LOVED hitting the word puck
to the goal that matched!
They kept track of how many points they scored.
Great team work!
We headed outside for a little bobsled racing.
The penguin went flying down the slide with a word attached.

In the classroom we used "sleds" to help us with our subtraction.
We sent the sleds down the ramp. If they fell out of the platform, they were disqualified.
5-5=0 winners.
We tried out a new winter game called curling.
One friend called out a number.
The other player shoved the scooter towards the correct number.
It was harder to aim than we thought it would be.
We also read this Caldecott Honor winner about extra yarn!
Then we got a little messy painting with yarn.
The kids had fun making some interesting designs with yarn.
We ended our day with a mystery reader.
She read to us a GREAT story called, How Much is a Million?
It had an AMAZING surprise ending. Ask your kindergartner about the ending!
We love ending our week with Friday readers. :)
What a GREAT week we had filled with smiles, SNOW, and laughter!
