We didn't have to look too hard for fun learning adventures this week!
SOOO many things to smile about this week!
We were hopping our way through our sight words.
One friend laid out the bunny paw prints to follow.
The other friends wrote down the path they had to take.
The last friend made their way down the bunny trail.
It put a whole new twist to the bunny hop!
Somebunny is a good reader!
I called out a word. If they had the word, they gave the bunny a little pat.
If they were right, my disco bunny did a little dance for them!
I just love seeing their faces light up when they read!
One of my favorite parts to the week was acting out the Last Supper.
The kids "washed" each other's hands and said, "Serve one another in love."
Then they broke bread and shared it with each other.
"Take and eat and remember Jesus."
Then they pretended to "drink wine". Remembering the blood that was shed for them.
After singing a hymn together we headed to the sanctuary.
This was our "Garden of Gethsemane" where we took time to pray.
It was a beautiful moment
hearing the kids quietly talk to God.
More bunny adventures came hopping into our classroom.
The kids really enjoyed making some bunny houses.
They also enjoyed feeding the bunnies the right carrots.
They had to read the word and then figure out which bunny it belonged to because of the ending chunk.
They also worked hard putting together some mixed up sentence puzzles.
The "Easter Bunny" helped us practicing our adding this week!
After delivering some of the eggs,
the rest of us had to guess how many were left in the basket.
We used a new painting technique to decorate some eggs. We swirled some paint in shaving cream.
Next we gave our paper a little pat.
The kids couldn't wait to see what would happen...
They couldn't believe how it turned out!
Such beautiful, unique masterpieces.
Mrs. Coad started our day off with some beautiful music.
Then it was time for the Jelly Belly factory workers to get to work!
They had to pick out the right jelly beans
to match the sentence on their bag.
They also enjoyed adding "belly flops" and good jelly beans.
They picked up a jelly bean card and read the number sentence.
Then they used the plastic jelly beans and "belly flops"
The last job was to put the jelly bean in the right jar to match the answer.
More "belly flops" popped up with our mixed up popcorn words.
They put the belly flop underneath the correct spelling.
Mrs. Lohman's preschool class had a special project that we helped with.
They wanted to make enough crosses to reach all the way to Mr. Debrick's office!
We followed the cross path
and looked for the ones we had made.
The cross path made it all the way to a giant cross in Mr. Debrick's office!
After watching a video on how to make jelly beans (similar to this one),
we got to work at our factory!
First we searched for belly flops.
We weighed them to make to sure they were the right weight.
We found some that were stuck together.
And some really odd ones that made us laugh!
The kids LOVED designing their very own jelly bean.
They had to work together to get the jelly beans to jump in the paint!
It was a challenge!
But there were lots of laughs and giggles!
We also enjoyed making jelly bean graphs
and measuring with the jelly beans.
Their favorite station was probably the taste testing station.
First they had to use the special tweezers to sort the jelly beans by color.
Then they got to pick out 10 jelly beans to put in their very own bag.
Of course they got to try some! Some kids didn't care for all of them!
Most of them LOVED every single flavor!
Sweet success! :)
Our week was not complete until we had a very special chapel.
WE followed Mr. Wood to three stations of the cross.
The first stop we sang "Do You Know Who Died for Me?"
Our second station we said a special litany.
Then each child made a cross on a heart.
We made our way to our final station.
Mr. Wood reminded us how much Jesus loves us.
He gave us a nail to put in through the heart.
For God so loved the world He gave His only son...
The bunny was back!
This time we were helping the Easter Bunny by sorting words in the right basket.
Mrs. Helmkamp was back with Bee-Bot!
This time he was dressed as the Easter Bunny.
The kids had to help program him to get to the right eggs.
We also did a little experiment with peeps and jelly beans.
We had to guess what would happen when we put them in water, salt water, and vinegar.
We were also busy adding and stacking eggs.
First they had to roll the dice twice to see how many they had to stack all together.
The second challenge was getting them to stay stacked!
Pure joy when it worked!
What an amazing week filled with joy but also sorrow as we talked about the death of Jesus.
We can't wait to tell the rest of the story...
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
