Pumpkin Fun!

The sun pushed away the cold fall temperatures, so we could have a GREAT week!

We floated our way through Columbus Day on Monday.

The kids each took a turn floating to the correct alphabet island.

They were even able to put the letters together
to make a word!

The kids also did a great job of designing their own boats out of paper...

and out of wooden blocks.

They are quite the inventors!

We also worked with numbers this week!

The kids had a great time
playing a missing number game!

Of course we talked a lot about pumpkins this week!

They each got a plain white pumpkin to start with.

Then they made polka dots all over their pumpkins.

Next they sprayed it with water.

They were SO excited to show their friends what happened!

We had a great time in gym class this week!

The parachute kept us moving

and a shaking!

We were even able to raise it up and wave to our friends.

Then we raised it up and...

ran under the parachute!

We were also busy practicing our syllables.

The kids had to pick up a picture

with the tweezers.

Then count to see which pumpkin patch it belonged in.
Hang on...

More pumpkin fun popped up!

After reading the story "Spookly the Square Pumpkin", the kids had to design a pumpkin patch

that would keep the pumpkins from rolling away.
Wednesday we also had a special chapel.

Mrs. Smith's class led our chapel service!

They did a great job of telling the story of baby Moses!
Many kids asked when we would get to lead chapel!  :)
(We will lead chapel in January.)

Mrs. Helmkamp also helped learn about pumpkins this week.

She brought a special friend...  BEE-BOT1
The kids had to program Bee-Bot to move

to the different steps in the life cycle of a pumpkin.

They can't wait for Bee-Bot to come back again!

After reading the book, "The Runaway Pumpkin"

the kids designed some ramps.

However, they also had to figure out how to stop the pumpkin from rolling away!

Those pumpkins weren't getting away in our room!

It was so great that sun came out as we headed into Friday...
The kids had been waiting ALL week to go to the pumpkin farm!

Here are a few pictures from our fun adventure!

God blessed us with some GREAT weather!

We were able to go on a tractor ride!

The kids were SO EXCITED!
Their smiles and giggles

reminded me why I enjoy teaching kindergarten!

We also went on a story walk.

It was more like a story run!  :)

There were also a few animals to look

and feed!

And of course we picked out pumpkins!

It was such a great day!

It was really hard to leave such a fun place.  :)

But there was more fun stuff to do back in our classroom!

When we got back we drew a picture of something we remembered from the field trip.
The kids also had great time creating gates

and fences
for the story "5 Lil Pumpkins".

Then they told the story to each other!

The kids also did a great job of painting their pumpkins.

They then had to describe what their pumpkin look liked.
It was such a great day filled with pure joy and excitement!

Once again our week wasn't complete until our Friday reader came!

She read a fabulously spooky book about St. Louis!

What a great way to end our great week!

We can't wait to see what next week brings...
