A SENSE-sational week

This week was all stacked up to be a great one!
In fact it was a SUPER week!

We were busy using all of our senses this week.

Our week started off with the sense of smell and our SMELLY markers.

Then we tried out some mystery smells.
Some smells we weren't so sure about.
Others didn't smell so good.
Then there were the smells that were simply awful!

We did find some smells that we liked.
The mystery smelling game was a challenge...
but it was a fun game!
Next up was our sense of hearing.
We had to listen to two canisters to find a match.

Shaking them was the fun part!
We had to listen really carefully.

It was so exciting to hear a match!

Mrs. Wegner came and helped us with a sound game.
We had to listen to the sound and guess what it was.
We also took our listening ears outside.

We had to be really, really quiet.

Our hears had to do all of the work as

as we wrote down all of the sounds we heard outside.

Later on we were busy using our sense of touch.

We closed our eyes and tried to guess what letter we were holding.

Our hands also helped us make some crazy creations!

Our sense of taste led us to taking "inventory" on our snack supply.

We wrote down all of the words we could find on the boxes.

WOW!  What a list!

Trail mix making also kept us busy.

We followed a very special recipe.

We even got to sample a few things along the way.

We weren't done with our sense of taste until we "fed" the bears!

Finally a bunch of HAPPY CAMPERS arrived for Camping Day!
We gathered around to share some camping stories.
Of course we sang some fun camp songs!

What a great bunch of singers!

We went searching for animal tracks too.

Once we found a match we figured out what animal they belonged to.

We were looking for more fun as headed to a special "Reading Time".

We had a great time
reading together in the tents.

We also went searching for letters in our classroom.

It looked to be another great adventure!
Even Mrs. Fuhr joined in on the fun with her "missing tent" game.
These campers were worn out...

but there was more camping fun to be had!

With our backpacks all ready to go, we headed off...

to meet some fun 4th graders for a SENSE-sational Camping Day!

Mrs. Wegner was back to help us with our sense of hearing as we listened to a story.

Mrs. Helmkamp and Mrs. Washburn took the campers
on an "I SPY hike".
They even helped our little hikers use the iPads.
They found a special cross made out of sticks,
a rock, a feather,

and the letter C.
They even found a fishing pond.

It was a "catch and release" kind of a pond!

The fourth graders were such great helpers...

They helped the kindergartners use their sense of touch

as they created some fancy camping collages.

Visiting Mr. Debrick at the S'more Station

was one of the favorite stations.

They were able to use their sense of taste

and their sense of smell!

They all agreed...
Mr. Debrick makes some really good S'mores!

Even the fourth graders agreed!
It was  a recipe for sweet success!

We had a lot of fun camping with our 4th grade friends.

We sang a quick camp song

before we told them good-bye.

It was one camping adventure we will always remember!
What a SENSE-sational week!
We can't wait to see what pop ups next week!
