Week of the Young Child...

It looked to be an AMAZING week as some new friends showed up in the classroom!
This week we celebrated WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD!
We kicked off Week of the Young Child in our pajamas!
We also went to the library for the last time.

Thank you Mrs. Masa for ALL of your help this year!

It was also MOVIE MONDAY!

We headed over to the church basement for a little movie mania with Mrs. Haun.
We wrapped up Monday by celebrating MAY DAY! We made little baskets...

And got ready to deliver them.

I snuck down the hallway to deliver the baskets to Mrs. Kuhlmann's class,
while the kids "hid".

When she didn't answer, we sent Mr. Marolff to try go knocking on their door.
That did the trick!
It was a perfect way to end our Movie Monday
or as some call it...
Movie FUNday!  :)
Tuesday was Silly Sock day!

We had a special visitor come talk to us about being a writer.
The kids loved learning about her job and how she creates books.

I think we have some potential authors in the group!
We also had fun Tuesday being kings and queens!

They built  some amazing castles.
They had great fun asking their loyal subjects for money!

If they couldn't pay, it was off to the dungeon!

Wednesday was WORKOUT WEDNESDAY!
The fourth graders came and helped us with some crazy relay races.

Who knew working out could be so fun!

Wednesday was also the day we let our little friends fly.

Some of them flew out of there cage right away!

A couple of them were a little nervous to spread their wings and fly.

Eventually they all enjoyed the beautiful day!

We continued our busy day by visiting the quilters.

The children made some new friends!
They were also FULL of questions...

They learned what thread is and what a thimble is.

These ladies were so patient and answered all of their questions.

One little boy even found someone he knew!

We could have stayed all day with these lovely ladies!

We will have to go back and visit them soon!
Thursday was National Day of prayer

and it was our special day to say the prayer for announcements.

They each got to work with a partner and write and say a part of the prayer.

They did a GREAT job of praying for the whole school to hear.

We then headed over to church for a special chapel.

We were excited to see a 2nd grader get baptized!

Some of our prayer pals even showed up to join us!

Another special visitor joined us too!

Miss Gloria used to teach sign language to deaf children.

The kids LOVED hearing and seeing her special talent!

They were sorry to see her go!  They had a lot more questions to ask!
We ended our day talking to my brother Ben on the Smartboard.
He coaches basketball at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska.
Each child got to ask him a question (he was very impressed with their questions!).
We ended our "SKYPE" session by singing for him!
We couldn't think of a better way to end our week
than with a visit from our moms!

Here is a little video of their special day with us...

We are THANKFUL for ALL of the special people at Zion
and all of the fun friends we met this week!
