It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  Lots of CRAZY days headed your way...

Our favorite Christmas sweaters and shirts popped up on Monday.

Mrs. Jennings kicked our week off with some Grinch exercises.

She ended gym by giving the kids some special Christmas erasers.

For math the kids had a blast using all kinds of  shapes to create a nativity scene.

Do you see baby Jesus sleeping in the manger?

Next the kids were digging into the stocking to find letters.

The kids had to describe to their friends what letter they had in their hands.

Their friends had to write down what letter they thought their friend was holding.

Tuesday we weren't sleeping on the job...
it was PAJAMA day!

Some special friends joined us too!

We were also busy celebrating the legend of the candy cane.
After reading this SWEET story about the meaning of the candy cane...

the kids enjoyed some fun candy cane activities.

We even played candy cane bingo.

While I read another story about the candy cane, the kids quietly ate their candy canes! YUMMY!

The kids headed outside to enjoy the beautiful day.

They took a candy cane magnify glass and looked for matching cvc words.

They also practiced balancing candy canes.

We couldn't believe how heavy some things were!

They also had fun making candy cane designs.

We LOVE candy canes!
Our adventures were just beginning...

Wednesday was MISTLE-TOE day!  We lots of fun, silly socks!

Wednesday we were busy practicing for our Christmas service.

Next we headed up to chapel with Mrs. Fish as our leader.

She had a JOY scale.

On a scale of 1-5 what brings you joy?  Snow, hot chocolate, Christmas dress days, etc.
Then she showed us a picture of baby Jesus.

He is a 10 on the JOY meter!  He will never go away, melt, or disappear.

He brings us JOY all year long!

Back in the classroom we were busy working on a matching cvc ornament game.
First the kids had to roll a dice and find that word.
Then they colored that word.

The last step was finding the ornament that matched.

We were also busy looking for letters that were hiding in our classroom.

Thursday lots of crazy accessories snuck in!

In math we were racing to find the higher number.
Whoever had the highest number was the winner!

Even Mr. Debrick stopped by to play.

We sure do LOVE it when he stops by!
We were also busy searching for heart words in our Nativity scavenger hunt.
The kids absolutely LOVED using word building blocks to create manger scenes.

Finally it was time for our special Christmas service with the 8th graders.

Back in the classroom we were celebrating Jesus' birthday
with some presents.

Then it was time for our party!

We had a BEAUTIFUL craft!

Lots of WONDERFUL people came to help!

We also enjoyed some yummy snacks!

Of course we had some GREAT games to play!

It was a great party!

And a GREAT week!

Merry Christmas!
