Here is a peek into our week!
We started off our week with our first time in the gym with Mrs. Jennings.
She had the kids moving and stretching.
They had a great time playing "JESUS TAG".
They worked hard
and had a great time too!
Back in the classroom we were busy working our fine motor skills.
They pretended like they were the "CLAW" and picked up a letter cube.
Some of the cubes had letters and some had pictures.
They tried to match up the pictures
with the letter they started with.
In the afternoon we were busy using our sense of touch.
We used different painting tools to get different textures.
We even used a toothbrush!
We were even busy making a texture collage for our Creation Story.
After talking about how God made animals, we made some animals of our own.
Can you guess what this is?
Here is a lion's mane!
The kids also had fun designing homes for animals.
Don't look now,
but it's time to celebrate...
ZERO HERO Day!
We've already made it to 10 days of school!
We started off with some superhero stretches.
Then we headed outside with our superhero capes.
We had some SUPER reading stations on ZERO HERO day...
When I called out a letter, if they had it, they used their superhero to SMASH the letter pow!
The rest of the group called out the sound three times to save the letter.
At another station these super readers headed out to the hallway to use their sense of sight.
They used their super sight to search for letters.
Once they found the letter
they marked it off of their list.
They also used their super sight to play a matching super alphabet game.
Nothing could stop these superheroes from saving their cities!
The kids rolled the dice to see how many blocks they could use to build their towers.
When they ran out of blocks their city was complete.
If their tower fell down, they had to start over!
These superheroes also went on a shape hunt.
Every time they found a circle, they had to trace it on their paper and write a number inside of it.
It was a SUPER day!
Wednesday we headed straight to music class.
Mrs. Crumrine had the kids working with rhythm and even had a drum for the kids to use!
For our reading stations we were using our sense of hearing as we played "musical chairs" kindergarten style!
When the music stopped the kids had to find a letter and call it out.
If they had self-control they got a chance to hula hoop before heading back inside.
We were also busy listening for syllables
When they picked up the card, they had to say if the item on the picture was loud or quiet.
The rest of the group counted out the syllables of the word using maracas!
The kids also made alphabet towns,
using letter people and blocks that had letters hiding on them.
In the afternoon we tried out some new rainbow blocks
AND dominoes!
We finished off the week with chapel in the Commons.
Mrs. Helmkamp led our chapel.
She showed us how our sins are filthy and dirty,
but Jesus loved us SO much he died on the cross for our sins.
He forgives us and makes us clean again just like the water.
Thank you for your generosity.
We even found some friendly faces we knew in chapel.
Back in the classroom we were pretending to use our sense of taste.
I called out a food.
If that food started with the letter they had,
they pretended to eat their letter.
He only likes to eat rhymes.
The kids picked out two pictures that rhymed and
tried to feed them to Roger.
Sometimes he accidentally nibbled their fingers if the kids weren't careful.
The kids can't wait for Roger to come back and play again!
The kids also went searching on food boxes for letters.
They wrote down as many letters as they could find.
the kids played a game where they got to feed pigeon.
They had to spin the wheel and write that number on their board.
Then they used the tweezers to pick up that same number of hot dogs.
The kids did a great job of feeding Pigeon!
Then the moment the kids had been waiting for... TASTE TESTING!
The kids tried something sweet, something salty, something spicy, and something sour.
The kids circled the happy face if they like it and sad face if they didn't like it.
Most of the kids gave a thumbs up for everything.
Some things the kids did NOT like. :)
But they were very brave and tried everything!
The kids LOVED this activity!
What a SENSEsational week!
