A T-rrific Week!

Raise your hand if you're ready for a great week...

We started off our week celebrating Earth day!

We went on a junk hunt in the classroom.

This junk had numbers on it.

The kids had to work together to put the junk in the right order.

The rest of us counted to see how long it took.

Then we found some words hiding on junk.

The kids took turns finding the right word.

Then they had to put it together

to make a sentence.

Then we were working on recycling some words.

If you had a card with a tree on it,

you got to take a friend's cards!
We read this fabulous book that reminded us to SAVE the EARTH!

Then we had a GREAT TRASH BASH and recycled the junk we found hiding in the room.
In the afternoon our creative brains got to work.

The kids LOVED creating sculptures out of junk!
This is a butterfly!
Levi worked so hard to create a squid, complete with seaweed!

Here is the start of a robot.

We were serving up a great EARTH DAY!

The KING of -ING arrived on Tuesday!

The kids had keys with words on them.

Then they had to find the sentence hiding on the castle.

Next up... they unlocked the word with their key.

Then we read about a king turtle who wanted to be as high as the moon. He kept ordering more and more turtles to stack up so he could get higher and higher.

We practiced stacking "turtles shells".

The kids had to roll the dice twice, add it up, and stack it up.

The kids had a great time coming up with different methods of stacking.

The kids also enjoyed this key game.

First they got a cup that had a number sentence on it.
Then they filled the cup with that many keys. Next step was subtracting the keys to show the number sentence.

The next friend searched in the castle for the answer.

They handed the card to the last friend in the group who wrote the answer down.

The kids LOVED using the castle for learning!

Wednesday it was time for more FLING IT!

This time the kids used a tiny ball.
Boy did they FLING IT!
"LOOK!  We hit the ceiling!"

Mrs. Crumrine had the kids all tangled up!

They were a ball of string unwinding and the kids LOVED it!

The wind came and blew letters to their friends.

The kids grabbed a letter.

They opened the letter and had to practice writing it.

We are working hard to figure out the middle sounds in words. The kids looked at the picture and figured out the vowel sound.  Next they had to put it by the right kite.

The kids worked together to make these word family kite puzzles.

They also went on a kite hunt looking for real and nonsense words hiding on the kite.

The kids were SO excited to go outside and "catch some wind".

They discovered you could even stand still and catch some wind.

We had a special surprise on our way back in...
The Roboteers from Lutheran High stopped by to show off their robots!

The robot threw some disks for the kids to catch.

Back in the classroom we were using our own wind to create art.

We were also busy doing some wind experiments.

The kids had to predict if they could make different items move with their wind.

Ms. Steinbacher came to help us learn our memory verse...
"It's not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit."

YAY!  Wind is SO fun to work with!

We were all set for our T Party!

We were so excited for Mrs. Kulhman's first graders to lead chapel.

They taught us a great song about shining for Jesus.

The money was soaring for our math lesson.

The kids took turns shopping for toys.

The cashier made sure they paid the right amount.

We were also busy doing laundry.

One person picked a letter t-shirt off of the clothesline.

They carried the t-shirt back to their group.

The rest of the group had to find the picture that started or ended with that letter.

Another reading station was going on a t-shirt hunt.

They had a list of words to hunt for on the t-shirts.

Once they found it, they wrote it down on their list.

The kids also enjoyed using tangrams at our t-party.

They even tie-dyed tiny t-shirts.

Of course had some tea and turtles at our t-party.

We also had fun shopping for t-shirts.
The banker handed the shopper some money.

The cashier gave a receipt.

The shopper went and found a shirt that matched their amount of money from the banker.

The cashier made sure to check them out.

Check out our fun t-shirts...

We finished our week with a few more smiles...

The type writer came out to help us practice spelling words.

This little turtle brought LOTS of giggles!

Hiding under the shells were some letters.

The turtle popped...

and the letters went flying!

Then they had to take the letters and figure out what word was hiding under the shell.

The kids LOVED this game!!!
We ended the day with the birthday boy's mom coming to read!

What a way to end the week!

Cheers to a great week!
