We were definitely building LOTS of great memories this week with a little help from Dr. Seuss.
We were busy driving to our sight words.
One friend laid out the sight words.
Another friend wrote down the route for the driver to follow. While the last friend got to be the police officer, making sure they followed the right roads.
We also used our cars to help us stretch out our words.
First we drove our cars to the two words that rhymed.
Then we slowly drove over each sound before ZOOMING across the word to blend it all together.
OH THE THINKS YOU CAN YOU THINK!
The wheels of imagination were spinning as these two created their own little town.
In math the kids LOVED using the dice to play an adding game.
They rolled the dice to see how many cars we would get to add.
They were SO excited whenever we would roll a 6!
Who knew making up story problems could be so exciting!
After reading a book called The Umbrella by Jan Brett, we discovered it was very similar to The Mitten!
We then had some umbrella fun of our own.
We put these umbrella puzzles together to make words.
We made sure the vowel was in the middle to make a word.
Then we mixed up the beginning sound to make a new word!
We also got to work matching these raindrops to the beginning sound umbrellas.
While we were waiting for our turn, we had to do some exercising!
It was RAINING in our classroom as we practiced this subtraction game!
First we threw the raindrops up in the air.
We had to subtract whichever ones landed on the "umbrella",
to find out how rain landed on the ground.
We shuffled our way to more basketball fun!
This week we practiced our bounce passes.
It was tricky remembering not to slam it over our heads.
We had to use our muscles to push it from our chest.
We also enjoyed making wishlists for some bookfair shopping.
Ms. Steinbacher was back to help us with the Lord's Prayer.
The kids worked together in teams to put together the Lord's Prayer puzzles.
They did GREAT!
Another exciting dice game.
The kids rolled the dice twice
to see how many blocks they could use to build with.
Some kids kept adding on to make some amazing creations!
We were also busy making rainy messes!
The kids splattered the paint to make raindrops for their umbrellas.
We ended the day by making our own rain clouds!
Then we added blue water to represent rain.
It took quite a few drops before we began to see anything...
Slowly "rain" began falling!
The kids LOVED this experiment! You can try it at home too!
We had a very special visitor join us to start our Thursday.
Mrs. Martin started a group called MOMS IN PRAYER 15 years ago. A group of moms gets together every Wednesday morning and pray for the students and teachers at Zion.
She taught the kids about the PATH prayer.
Praise
Apology
Thanksgiving
Help
The kids then drew pictures and wrote their own PATH prayer.
We were RACING our way to play our math game!
The kids couldn't believe they got to RUN in the classroom!
Each racer picked up a number from the pile.
Sometimes the winner was the one who had the highest card.
Sometimes it was whoever had the lowest card.
They had a GREAT time cheering each other on!
Finally the moment we had been waiting for...
OUR GRANDPARENTS AND SPECIAL FRIENDS arrived!!!
We were excited to sing some songs for our guests.
We gave out some high fives
and LOTS of hugs.
Of course we made a few messes!
We were busy stacking some of CAT in the HATS hats.
We made a few Truffula trees
We were sorry to see the day come to end...
