There's no business like...
SNOW business!
The kindergartners worked hard
on making some beautiful snowflakes.
We learned that each snowflake that falls from the sky is unique,
just like each special kindergartner.
I just loved watching their faces light up
when they saw how their snowflake turned out!
They also enjoyed doing a little snowball toss.
They had to aim for a certain letter.
Once they hit a letter
they practiced writing that letter on a dry erase board.
We were also hard at work playing a new game.
Spin it, tap it, write it!
Your child should have this game (along with a "four in a row" dice game) in their Friday folder if you want to practice at home. Keep in mind that every picture is a CVC word that has the letter "a" as the vowel middle. (The picture of the dog is actually the word "wag")
These little snowmen helped us practice our rhyming.
The kids worked hard to match the tops of the snowman to the rest of his body.
the kids had so much fun working together
to build the "biggest snowman ever"!
Some even made snowkittties! :)
Painting our very own snowmen was also on our agenda.
They started by using tiny "snowballs"
to paint their snowman.
Then we accessorized and named our snowman. Meet... SNOWDROP!
We couldn't quite get it to snow...
SO we had to improvise!
A little shaving cream
meant LOTS of fun with practicing our spelling!
The kids looked at the picture on the snowman,
SNOW much fun!
Sight word snow forts kept us busy too!
The kids worked together to build snow forts out of cups that had sight words on them.
Some fun preschool friends joined us too!
The kids also enjoyed playing this adding game.
Someone hid some snowmen items around the blanket.
The kids had to show on their fingers how they would add the items together.
2 snowballs plus 1 hat = 3
It was quite the balancing act getting these snowy items to balance.
The warm weather couldn't stop our snowy fun.
We enjoyed the warm weather and had a great time having a SNOWBALL FIGHT!
These special snowballs were crumpled up pieces of paper
that had words written on them.
They had a GREAT time reading and throwing the snowballs!
The kids were also busy building and creating.
Vicar Nelson lead another great chapel.
This one was a reminder of baptism and the meaning behind it.
Some of the kids have even started following along with our order of worship.
TOTAL = $2017.83 That is AMAZING! Thanks SO much for your generosity.
After reading Snowmen at Night and Snowmen at Work, we did a little more snowy activities.
The sight word snow pile landed in front of these kids.
The snowman "at work" dropped off some snow for each child.
When they opened their eyes, they looked for the magic snowflake and wrote down their "popcorn word".
We finished off the day with some "snow cones" and sprinkles!
It was a cold treat,
but a TASTY treat!
Friday came with more smiles and dancing!
It's crazy moments like these
that make my heart smile
and give me a little peace at the same time. Thanks for sharing your kids with me!
Another snow pile game!
Each child had 2 or 3 "popcorn" words.
I called out a word.
If they had the word, they covered it with a snow pile!
They had to be fast.
A friend might have the same popcorn word.
They had to see who snow piled their word first!
Lois Ehlert's book Snowballs inspired the kids to create their own snowball friends.
Here are some of our "loose part" creations.
They had SO much fun using their imaginations to create these friends.
I think Lois Ehlert would be proud of these creations! :)
The kids were SO excited to meet this special Friday Reader!
Miss Sprinkles brought a wonderful book to share with the kids!
It was a perfect way to end our blizzard of fun this week!
We will never forget our Friday reader, but just in case we do...
She gave each kindergartner a balloon to remember her story.
We are excited to see what memories we will build next week!
