A SENSEsational Week!

We were looking to have a SENSEsational week!

It turned out to be a SUPER week too!
We kicked off the week by talking about our senses.
We had to sort the pictures our senses chart.
Some of the pictures were a little stinky

and we didn't want to touch them!

Other pictures made us smile.
We could tell it was going to be a great week!

We used our sense of touch and our sense of sight

to play this tower stacking alphabet game!

Once we picked up an alphabet cube, we had to carefully place it on the letter that matched.

We loved using our sense of touch

to make these fun letters out of clay and popsicle sticks.
Our fingers continued to work hard with some tactominoes

AND dominoes!
We enjoy lining them up and watching them fall down!

We read this great book on Monday.
We practiced making our worried faces

and talked about things that make us worried.

We also discussed what helps us when we get worried.

No matter what worries we may have,

it is great to know

we have a God

who will always care for us!

The kids had a blast using their hands for this art project!

They did some amazing texture painting

to copy the technique of author and illustrator Eric Carle.

They even painted with toothbrushes!  :)

They couldn't help but laugh and giggle

when they discovered how messy it was!

They did make some beautiful masterpieces!

Using our sense of touch was a great way to start off the week!

We were all set for a SUPER day...

We have been in school for 10 days already!

That's a ZERO HERO day!

Each child received a cape to wear on our ZERO HERO days!

They were so excited so show off their super powers.

They had fun using their sense of hearing

as they played "musical chairs" with hula hoops!
They danced their way through the hula hoops.
Some hopped their way way through,
while others were flying!
Once the music stopped

The kids had to find a letter hiding in the hula hoop.
They had to call out the name of the letter and the sound that it makes.

Back in the classroom "Iron Man" showed up

as we worked with nuts and bolts

AND explored with magnetic wands.

The kids were amazed at what the magnetic wands could do!
They were also leaping for joy to play this super hero game!

One teammate laid out some super hero numbers.

The next teammate called out a number and wrote it down.

Finally it was time to use our super strength and hit that number with the bean bag!
Good-bye Zero Hero day!  We'll see you again soon!
Run, run, run!  Wednesday brought us more gym time!
We had fun playing line tag this week.
Mrs. Coad led another great music class!

She taught us all about tempo.

Each kid had a turn to play the triangle
and the tambourine.

We kicked off our sense of taste by reading Today is Monday  by Eric Carle.

It was a fun song to sing,

but boy did it make us hungry!

The kids had a great time feeding the Old Lady some rhymes!
We had to be really careful when we fed her...
sometimes she got a little full
and burped!

The kids LOVED this game!
It was so fun to hear them giggle!

We can't wait to rhyme with the old lady again!

We were also busy looking at food.

The kids wrote down all the letters and words they could find on the food boxes.

Serving up some playdoh food also brought smiles to our faces.

We had to make the food
and then make the letter that it started with.
Math was served up with a smile
as we played restaurant.
The owner told us how many customers needed to be served.

We had to put out the right amount of bowls.
Then we made sure every customer had the right amount of food.

After reading this hilarious book,

we got right to work helping pigeon find the right amount of hot dogs!

Yummy fun!

We couldn't finish our day without doing a little taste testing.
Some kids weren't so excited about trying everything.
They each tried something salty, something sweet, something sour, and something spicy.

Then they marked on their paper if they liked it or not.

Some food the kids definitely did not like!
Other foods were yummy!
They were all very brave and tried new things.
Sometimes they even surprised themselves
because they actually liked it!
Other friends just couldn't hold back their emotions!
OOOO... grapefruit it very sour!

It definitely was a SENSEsational experiment!

We were laughing and singing

our way through Thursday!

This group loves to dance and sing!

Pastor Rouland had us laughing too!

He led a great chapel

reminding us how God has written us on the palm of His hand and will NEVER forget us!
Thanks for bringing in your chapel offering this week!  Keep it up!

We were also excited to celebrate 4 baptismal birthdays in the month of September.

We were back in our classroom working on our sense of sight.

We read Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses.
We put on our groovy sunglasses
and got right work!
We whipped out our magnifying glasses

and began searching for some hidden letters.
Teamwork made it little easier.
Our groovy sunglasses
took us on an adventure in the hallway.

We were busy looking for all the letters we could possibly find in the hallway.

Once they found the letter

they marked it off on their board.

For math we headed outside.

We were using our sense of sight

to find different groups of numbers.

Two holes.

One bridge.

Five steps.

Five monkey bars.

They did a GREAT job with this activity!
Can you find different groups of numbers at your house?

Don't worry...

We'll be back next week with more fun adventures!

Until then may God continue to surround you with His love!

God is love.
1 John 4:16
