YAY! It was great week filled with learning adventures!
This student said, "I made a Z and an L to remind me I'm thankful Mommy and Daddy sent me to Zion Lutheran!" This made my heart smile! :)
We kicked off the week celebrating spring with GREEN DAY!
the kids had a chance to practice making their own GREEN masterpieces.
They used a little yellow and a little blue
to make the color green!
The kids also had fun making a green road.
They then added green shamrocks with "popcorn" words to their road.
Another friend had to make a "map" of where the car had to drive.
Green Eggs and Ham helped us with our math lesson.
We tossed some green eggs onto our plate.
Then we had to figure out how many more we needed to make 10.
Another friend tossed in the rest of the eggs!
It was a little tricky trying to get them all to stay on the plate!
A beautiful day for a walk to the mailbox!
We had some very special letters to mail!
We talked about how the letters had to have stamps on them and addresses.
Each child put their letters to their grandparents in Zion's BIG mailbox.
We can't wait to get a letter back!
We had to make sure to put the flag up so our letters would get picked up.
In the afternoon we had some more fun with GREEN!
the kids had a BLAST playing with their very own oobleck!
They couldn't believe how it felt!
Is it a solid?
Is it a liquid???
I don't know... but it is fun!
Some kids wanted to put their whole bodies in it!
It definitely brought some smiles to our faces!
Here is a quick video explaining how to make it!
We also played a quick tossing game, where we had to guess how much OOBLECK was being tossed.
After guessing how much OOBLECK was in the bucket, they got to toss it to the plate.
The kids had so much fun guessing and tossing.
More messy adventures occurred with writing in mud!
The rain helped us create a little muddy mess to write our "m's" in.
Some kids were even brave enough to put their fingers in it!
We read a book called Mouse Paint.
This helped us with a little mouse painting of our own.
What colors did we make?
Some little mice helped us write our numbers in the mud,
and we had fun making mice mazes.
Some kids worked together to create some really tough mazes,
complete with ramps and bridges!
Then they used the magnetic wands to lead the mice through the maze.
It was AMAZE-ing!
Wacky WEDNESDAY brought some CRAZY adventures!
We started off with chapel led by Mrs. Mudd.
She reminded us that we each have a job to do... take care of God's wonderful creation!
Thank you again for your generosity! We are well past our school wide goal! KEEP IT UP!
The wackiness continued as we headed back to the classroom.
The kids had to choose which tunnel to crawl through.
If there was a nonsense word at the end of the tunnel,
they had to do a WACKY dance! :)
They loved this game!
Back in the classroom, the kids discovered some mixed-up popcorn words!
The kids worked really hard to put the words back together.
It was quite the challenge, but some groups got them ALL back together!
The kids also LOVED this WACKY game.
They had to spell out a nonsense word on the giant poppers.
Then they had to pop each sound in the word.
I was told by one little boy that this game was "very satisfying"! :)
In math we were busying trying to find the missing parts to 10.
The chef hid some noodles on the plate underneath the napkin.
The customer opened their eyes and tried to figure out how many noodles were on the plate by how many were left on the table.
You can play this game at home too!
The kids were excited to build their own napping houses,
using blocks and cups that had words on them.
Some chose to build ramps and slides.
Some even had hidden rooms!
This group has become quite the designers and builders!
We are looking forward to some more fun adventures AND some more sunny days too!
