A BEARY Special Week!

Look out!

Lots of crazy adventures headed your way...

A bunch of bugs showed up in our room to kick off our week.

The kids worked hard picking up bugs and putting them in their ten frames.

The really enjoyed using "loose parts" to create bugs.

We also played a game where the kids had to hide the bugs on a blanket.

Then they had to quickly count to see how many bugs were on the blanket.
The kids went on a bug hunt outside.

They had to match the lowercase letter with the capital one hiding in the jar.
The kids also went on a bug hunt in our classroom.
This time when they found the matching bug letter

they smacked it!

Making bugs out of balloons
was another activity the kids enjoyed doing.

This little guy said the balloon made it look like his bug had veins!
Once the body of the bug was finished
they started adding details.
What great imaginations these kids have!

We also enjoyed reading another Pigeon book about him wanting to drive a bus!
Then the kids were able to drive the bus.

First they picked out rhyming words to drive to.
Next they drove the bus to things that started with B.
They had to be careful not to get tricked!
The bonus round was finding something that did NOT start with B and drive to the letter that it started with.

We have some very good bus drivers in the group!
We also drove a pretend bus in our classroom, practicing the math concepts of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
We also finally let the pigeon drive the bus, but we only let him drive around things that started with B.
The kids had to count to see how many of each item the pigeon had.

Chapel this week was led by Pastor Fieberkorn.

He reminded us to love our neighbors as ourselves.
Thank you for being SO generous!  Our offering continues to bless the children in Cambodia.  Keep it up!

In gym class the kids LOVED playing with balloons and "bats".

This is a game we play at my house all the time.

We used pool noodles that were cut in half as bats!

The kids worked with a partner to keep the balloon from dropping.

I have never heard so many giggles in gym class before!

Back in the classroom we were busy building Noah's ark.
The kids could use different material to create their ark.
Once their ark was completed,
they added the animals two by two to keep them safe.
We also had fun trying to keep Noah Ark afloat.
First they had to pick a "boat".

Then they started adding animals onto their boat.

They counted to see how many they could add before it started sinking!
Some boats held over 50 animals!
Others didn't hold quite so many!

It was fun to watch
as they carefully placed their animals on the boats,

hoping it would stay afloat.

The kids had a BLAST doing this activity!
We also celebrated ZERO HERO day this week!
We have already been in school for 20 days!

Mrs. Helmkamp stopped by to help us make some super hero parachutes.
The kids could use different materials

to try to help their superhero fly!
Soaring to success!

We also played a SUPER game where we hid letters under a cape.

The kids had to close their eyes

and guess which letter was missing.
We also worked hard building towers.

Somewhere in those towers a number was hiding.

The super heroes had to save the number

without knocking down the tower.

It definitely was a SUPER day!
We floated right into Friday
as we had a special Jesus time on "Noah's Ark"
It was also a BEARY special day with our Teddy Bear picnic.

We introduced our bears to each other.

Then we danced with our bears.

The bears turned out to be quite the dancers!
We had a little picnic in our classroom.
First we had to sort the foods that started with P and B.

We had bananas, blueberries, and bears.
We also had popcorn
pretzels, pears, and punch!
It was the perfect P and B picnic with our bears.
The kids were also busy making sandwiches for our picnic.

They had to match a picture

to its beginning sound.

The bears thought the sandwiches were delicious!

We also had some bears hiding on the the blankets.

The kids had to write down how many bears were hiding.

More bears showed up to help us make letters.

We discovered bears are good balancers too!

We weren't quite done with our bear adventures.
We went on a bear hunt and did a little more dancing.
Our bears proved to be very good resters as the got ready for our last adventure.
We headed outside for our Teddy  Bear picnic number two.

As we headed back from our picnic...

we decided to end the day with one more YUMMY treat!

Popsicles!

We will be back next week...
Stay tuned for more smiles!
