A great week was served up for us!
We loved hanging outside
to enjoy a week filled with more beautiful weather!
The kids played hard and worked hard this week.
These girls practiced leaping.
One little girl even created an obstacle course.
Some friends joined in the fun.
It was fun to watch them all try it out!
This week we took at peek at nursery rhymes and stories.
After reading This is the House that Jack Built,
The kids set to work building their own houses.
The kids also had fun with Humpty Dumpty.
They worked hard building walls.
They had to make sure Humpty wouldn't fall off.
Some kids even thought of building a place for him to land.
They also had the challenge of getting him all the way across the wall.
Our Jack and Jill game had us carrying buckets of letters instead of vowels.
The kids had to find the right vowel and bring it back to their teammates.
The next friend had to make sure they got the right vowel.
Then they placed the vowel on the word to make sure it made the correct word.
The kids LOVED our "I'm a Little Teapot" adventure!
The kids had to guess how many teacups would fit into their container.
as we got closer to the top of their container.
"Do you dare pour another teacup in?"
YES we do!
SOOOO this little friend showed up on our classroom ceiling.
It was as if she knew we were talking about SPIDERS!
Our little spider rings had to find the right letter bug to catch.
We also fed some rhyming bugs to the spider.
Counting spiders also kept us busy.
We rolled the dice to see how many spiders would climb up the spout.
They also had to write down the number of spiders on the spout.
The kids had a GREAT time designing their own spouts too.
They worked together to design some really fancy spouts.
Each pipe had a letter or word on it they had to read before they could use it.
It was a little tricky to get it to stand sometimes.
They couldn't wait to send the spider down the spout!
WEEE! Have fun little spider!
"Hey Diddle Diddle" brought some spoons and dishes.
The kids had to match the rhyming spoon and dish.
They did a GREAT job of matching the ending chunks of the words.
Hey Diddle Diddle also meant we had to send the cow OVER the moon!
The kids worked hard to get their cow catapulted over the right moon!
They had a great time with this activity!
Jack be nimble. Jack be quick. Jack jump over the wooden stick!
The kids set up a little obstacle course of wooden sticks, and I put a letter for them to jump over.
They had to say the name of the letter as quick as they could
and jump over the stick and the letter.
We have some HIGH FLYERS in this group!
And some great readers too!
This week we were also busy working with shapes.
They also love to get out the magnitiles to build and create.
We took our shape adventures outside too!
The kids had to make a tally mark next to the shape they found.
They had so much fun being SHAPE detectives.
They found circles...
Diamonds...
Rectangles...
and squares.
We also had fun celebrating ...
DOT DAY!
We read The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds.
And listened to a song to go with it!
We were all lined up
to have a great a DOT DAY!
The kids made dots on their names.
Then counted to see which letter had the most dots.
They also had a GREAT time making their own special dot.
They put paint on a dot and smashed it together with another dot.
They couldn't wait to see what would happen to their friends' dots!
It was so fun to watch their faces EXPLODE with excitement
at their beautiful masterpieces.
Make your mark!
What a picture perfect week!
I wonder what adventures we will leap into next week!
