We were busy building memories
and working hard.
Mrs. Bernhardt kicked off our week with a special chapel about Valentine's Day.
She reminded us that God's love for us is never ending.
President's Day was fun and
kept us spinning!
The red, white, and blue masterpieces were amazing!
Building White Houses was also a challenge for us.
The words on the cups helped us put some incredible White Houses together.
Kids Heart Challenge kept us hopping!
Mrs. Steinbacher showed the kids all of the banners in the hallway from years past.
This got the kids ready for the challenge!
They did an amazing job
of hopping and jumping!
These kids had springs in their shoes!
Mrs. Glover stopped by and showed the kids
how to play helicopter.
Mrs. Steinbacher taught the kids how to jump rope with the short rope.
It was a tough challenge, but the kids did great!
The kids also had an obstacle course to jump through.
They raced over hurdle.
And they leaped over anything that stood in their way.
They were so fast
I could hardly catch up to them!
We were so grateful for all of our special volunteers.
These children are definitely Heart Heroes!
Thanks Mrs. Steinbacher for the awesome challenge!
Back in the classroom we were also busy talking about quilts.
After seeing some of my quilts, the kids practiced a little sewing.
They were also busy designing their own quilts with pattern blocks
and geoboards.
To end our day, we headed over to the church basement.
We found some lovely ladies working on a quilt.
The kids were so amazed at the ladies' skills and talents,
and they were very curious about how to quilt.
They had SO many questions for these wonderful quilters.
They even looked underneath the quilt to see how it all worked!
We could have stayed all day with these lovely ladies!
We gave each quilter a special thank you.
We hope to see them again soon!
This week we also enjoyed a PEP ASSEMBLY (One kindergartner thought it was a PET ASSEMBLY)!
We joined the rest of the school in the gym
to cheer on the girls
and boys basketball teams that were headed to state this weekend.
The kids were amazed at the cheerleaders stunts
and had a great time dancing with the band. GO BOBCATS!
Some fun fourth graders stopped by this week as well!
They helped us address our grandparents day invites
and stayed to read with us.
What a great bunch of friends!
We ended our week with STONE SOUP!
We practiced a few word recipes
before making some real soup of our own.
The kids each got to put a little of something into our soup.
The pot was getting fuller and fuller.
It started to smell really good!
But the children were very hesitant to try it!
While we waited for our soup to cook the kids made some pretend soup.
They even made some "alphabet soup".
They had to give each other "recipes" to follow.
They had to pass inspection, before they gave their alphabet soup to the "teacher".
Finally it was time for our soup! The stone had magically disappeared!
Many of the kids were still unsure about the soup!
Others were very brave and gave it a try.
Most of the kids just liked the soup crackers!
It was a good soup because the magic was in the power of sharing.
Three cheers for another SOUPer week!
