We were ready to take off on more adventures this week!
To celebrate Columbus Day the children created boats of their own.
A'hoy matey!
They also designed treasure maps
and pretended to be boats sailing on the ocean.
It was also a positively perfect week for the letter P to pop up!
The parachute even popped up in gym class as we pretended to make it rain...
and then the SUN came out.
They even were able to run under the parachute.
Little pumpkin patches kept popping up too.
The children had to roll the dice to see how many pumpkins they could put in their patch.
They also designed gates
so they could retell the poem of 5 little pumpkins sitting on a gate.
We had chapel with Mrs. Helmkamp this week! She taught us about candy corn
(a special poem is in your child's Friday folder).
She even taught us about pumpkins!
Miss Bethany stopped by too.
She helped us practice our Bible verses.
More pumpkin fun was brewing in our classroom.
We were busy making words with pumpkins
and matching pumpkin seeds.
It was GREAT fun!
Finally it was time to go on our field trip to the pumpkin farm.
Nothing could keep us away!
Things didn't go quite as planned...
but we had a great time!
The raindrops couldn't stop our smiles.
We went on a tractor ride
and drove a few tractors too!
There was even a playground to play on
and a maze too.
We also went searching for pumpkins.
Some little ones popped up
Some odd ones popped up too!
We also found some animals on the farm.
We even fed a few of them.
It was almost time to go.
Before we left, we went searching for the perfect pumpkin.
I think we found some good ones!
Despite the chilly rain, we still had smiles on our faces.
It is a day I am sure the kids will never forget(I'm sure the parents won't either).
Some kids even wanted to stay longer!!!
Back in the classroom we wrote about our pumpkin adventures.
The kids are becoming quite the illustrators!
They also painted a picture of their pumpkin.
Building pumpkin patches kept us busy.
Tractors to carry the pumpkins showed up at the pumpkin patch too .
After reading the book The Runaway Pumpkin.
the kids got to work inventing ramps
and contraptions that would stop the pumpkin from rolling away.
Then they tested it out. It worked!
We ended our day with a special birthday celebration.
What a crazy week of fun adventures!
I wonder what is lined up for next week!
