He is RISEN INDEED! Alleluia!
Mrs. Lohman and Mrs. Rouland kicked off our week with an Easter celebration!
We were dancing and singing!
Then we took the party outside.
The kids all lined up...
And took off!
They found a very special egg that had a cross inside of it.
Some butterflies flew into our room to remind us of new life this week!
The kids played a matching game with these butterflies.
Another tricky game. This time the kids closed their eyes...
These little cocoons had words hiding under them!
We used these little tubes to help us make some number bonds.
The kids loved rolling the pom poms into the hula hoops to create a teen number.
we played a little bird game of our own.
We flew to the number.
After picking up the number, the next bird had to pick up that many feathers and add it to the 10 eggs in the nest.
We were also busy using our "bird beaks".
The kids practiced their fine motor skills using tweezers for bird beaks.
They dropped pom poms on all the letter "b's" they could find.
Next up was helping these little birdies to find their nest.
The bird beaks were back in the afternoon.
This time we did a little experimenting to see which beak worked the best.
We tested out long ones and short ones. Metal ones and plastic ones.
Every child had their own preference.
Under the eggs the kids found some money hiding! They had to choose an egg and write down how much money was hiding under the egg.
The kids LOVED getting a little messy
and doing some texture painting.
Once they worked together and filled the whole paper...
Mrs. Wood folded it up...
And created this work of art, which we turned into a butterfly!
Each child also took some paper and created their own bird.
God gave us a beautiful day to take our "birds" outside and...
watch them fly!
The kids had a blast throwing their birds into the wind!
They were so proud of how well their birds could fly!
They even took them for a ride down the slide! :)
Gym this week was very exciting! ("best gym class ever", I heard!)
We told the Easter story with our parachute. First we walked to the tomb.
We walked slowly because we were sad our friend Jesus died.
Then we created the tomb!
They were SO excited to make the tomb.
They couldn't believe how they made the tomb so big!
When we discovered the tomb was empty, we RAN back to tell Peter and John. John beat Peter to the tomb he was so fast.
Next we went inside the tomb.
The kid LOVED going inside to see if Jesus was there.
Next we made sure Jesus was alive and checked out the tomb for ourselves.
Each child had a chance to run inside the tomb to "look" for Jesus.
He is RISEN!
He is RISEN indeed!
Alleluia!
What an exciting way to tell the Easter story!
We can't wait to use the parachute again soon!
The hungry caterpillar inched its way into our classroom.
This sentence caterpillar was all mixed,
so the kids had to put it back together again.
Then they carefully read it to make sure it made sense.
They also enjoyed creating their own loose parts butterflies.
They also enjoyed painting some butterflies and making them symmetrical.
We can't wait to share all of our butterfly masterpieces.
We weren't just laying around to finish off our week...
We were moving and shaking as we reviewed the shape of a sphere.
This sphere helped us practice making teens. First we shook a pail with 10 balls.
Then the kids listened as we dribbled.
We had to add that number to 10 to create a teen number.
10+5=15
We were busy smashing these spheres
to help stretch our sounds.
First the kids grabbed word from the basketball bucket.
As we read the word, we smashed out the sounds in the spheres.
Next up was tossing spheres into a bucket.
These balled up papers had words on it the kids had to practice reading before they could throw it.
YAY! What great readers we have become!
This dribbling game helped us practice spelling our popcorn words.
Every time they dribbled they said a letter in their popcorn.
Then they tossed the ball to their partner to see if they were right!
We were busy "saving the b's" in this game!
The kids LOVED smacking any letter that wasn't a "b"!
These little spheres were quite exciting!
The kids started with 10
and added onto their ten to make some masterpieces!
Here is a house.
Can you guess what this is?
We love spheres!
YAY! For Baseball Day!
Take a peek at our starting line up...
Before we headed outside for some ball games...
We had a few things to catch up on inside.
We kicked off our math lesson by playing this ball game.
We had to keep track of how many hits each team got by using the linking cubes.
It was the Cardinals verses the "Pineapples" in the final round. (The kids chose the teams names!)
The kids had to add onto the stack of ten to make a teen number.
The Cardinals had 18 hits.
This game ended up being a tie game!
The kids were also busy making sentences.
They worked together to figure out these tricky mixed up sentences.
They did a great job!
Their next challenge was to find matching sight words.
They tried to find as many matches as they could.
They were so fast at this game!
We also had a little snack to give us energy to finish out the day.
The pretzels were the bats. The square cereal were the bases, and the marshmallows were the baseballs.
God blessed us with some beautiful weather for Baseball Day!
No more sitting around...
What time is it???
GAME TIME!
Homerun! YAY!
RUN!
HOMERUN! YAY!
What a great day...
What a great week!
Stay tuned... next week will be filled with LOTS of fun adventures!
