Fall Leaves Fall!

 

"LEAF" it to us to enjoy every moment of autumn! 

We were busy decorating letters with fall patterns.

It was a beautiful day to go looking for sticks.

We turned those sticks wonderful fall trees!

We took one stick...

and added branches

by using clay.

Then we added colorful buttons to make it looked like leafs!

Some kids discovered working together

meant more clay

and bigger trees!

Snapcubes helped design fall pictures.

We also enjoyed looking at signs of fall...

And measuring them with snapcubes.

More fall fun headed our way on Wednesday!

We enjoyed another fun music class with Mrs. Coad.

"Pass the butter please..."

This fun song helped us warm up our voices.

We worked hard on our songs for church.

We can't wait to sing in church!

Mrs. Helmkamp led our chapel this week!

She reminded us that we are all part of God's family.

Our chapel offering this month is going to buy Thanksgiving meals for seminarian families. Thank you for your generosity!

YAY!  We celebrated two baptismal birthdays this month!

Back in the classroom we were raking up some syllables.

First they picked up a card.

Then they worked together to figure out which syllable rake it belonged to.

Some groups even challenged themselves to write the one syllable words!

Kindergartners are working so hard to become readers!

We went on a leaf hunt in our classroom.

We had to match the leaf shadow letter to the leaf and write it down.

Then we went on a real leaf hunt outside!

The kids LOVED looking for unique leaves!

They discovered someone had already made a  big pile of leaves for them!

Our leaf hunt journey continued

as we made our way around Zion's campus.

We found all kinds of leaves 

and the special trees they belonged to.

More leaf fun appeared in our classroom.

The kids worked on sorting

and making patterns.

They even designed their own fall trees using tape.

Then they painted over the trees.

You can see the wonderful masterpieces we created in the hallway!

In math we were busy playing a train game.

We had to figure out which tickets got us on the train!

The kids LOVED being the conductor and handing out the tickets.

The kids LOVED trying to figure out which ticket would let them on the train.

We were also busy playing an alphabet leaf game.

They picked up a leaf .

Whatever picture was on the leaf, they had to find the right letter that matched it.

Writing in colorful noodles was also an activity the children enjoyed.  

They picked up a leaf

and practiced tracing that letter in the noodles.

Painting with noodles was even more exciting!

They made quite the masterpieces with the noodles.

They also made quite the messes!

Sorting noodles and making graphs

kept our fingers and our brains working hard.

Our week wasn't quite over...

YAY! It's FRIDAY!

Time to sing.

Time to dance!

We love our Friday dance parties!

We were super excited for a special surprise...

We got to watch the 8th graders' rocket launch!

It was a beautiful day to join the rest of the school outside to watch.

The kids had a blast cheering for the 8th graders!

Some of them went SUPER high in the sky!

The kids were definitely amazed!

Don't be surprised if your kindergartner asks you to build them a rocket ship!

It is a day I'm sure they will remember for a long time!

After reading this silly book,

we tried hard not to let our leaves blow away!

I called out a letter sound.

If they had the letter that matched my sound, 

they caught the leaf.

Then they had to put the leaf letters in the right order to make a word.

WOW!  We are becoming quite the word wizards!

We were excited to find some more amazing leaves!

We took these special leaves inside with us

for some adventures.

First we measured the leaves 

and recorded what colors we found on our leaves.

Then the kids had BLAST painting with the leaves!

Who knew leaves made such great paint brushes!

They also make some beautiful prints.

We did make some wonderful leaf masterpieces.

AND some wonderful messes too!

We couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather this week!

God sure blessed us with wonderful days!
