Building Memories

We were building memories this week!

We played a fun balancing game.

When their word was called, 

the kids carefully handed me their word without dropping it.

After reading about animal homes, the kids got to work making their own animal homes.

We read a great book called, The Best Nest.

Then the kids set to work creating their own best nests.

They had to work carefully to figure out a way to balance the eggs.

Some kids worked together.

Others  made their nest all by themselves.

Some even found a way to balance more than one egg.

They did an EGGcellent job with this challenge!

Mrs. Douglas led our chapel this week. 

Each class got together and wrote down things they were sorry for. 

Then one of her students put a cross on our "Sorry Posters" reminding us that Jesus died on the cross for all of those wrong choices.

Back in the classroom we were busy working on more fun house projects.

The kids had to read the words on the sticks 

and then put them together to build some kind of house.

They came up with some very interesting designs!

I've got sunshine on a cloudy day!  We were also busy talking about clouds this week!

We used cloud dough to help us practice our letters.

Some kids thought it was more like pizza dough than cloud dough!

The kids had a great time turning cotton balls into pictures.

Can you figure out what these clouds are?

We read another great book.  The kids loved guessing what the clouds were supposed to be!

Then we set to work making our own cloud designs 

with a special puffy paint.

Then we folded the paper up

and were SURPRISED at what we discovered!

"Mine looks like a tooth!"

This is a butterfly flying at night.

We did squeeze in a little shamrock fun.

We rolled the dice twice and added up our shamrocks.

Then we worked hard to figure out the number equation. 

We also used shamrocks and gold coins

to help fill up our 10 frames and practice our adding.

Back to more house adventures...

Mrs. Helmkamp stopped by to help us work our our addresses.

She "flew"  each child to their house.

She also flew them to Zion 

and to her house!

We also had some fun constructing words!

One person had the "blueprint".

Another person had to construct the word.

The inspector came by to make sure they built it correctly.  Great teamwork!

The kids LOVED making houses out of graham crackers!

Everybody thought of a different way to design their house.

Some kids definitely had some experience with graham crackers houses!

Tasting the house was the best part!

The kids also liked building houses with Lincoln logs.

We ended our house adventures by creating our own dream houses.

I was AMAZED at the things they came up with!

They didn't want to stop building.

I think we have some future interior designers!

Who knew learning about houses could be so much fun!
