Up For the Challenge

We were so excited to finish up our valentine fun.

We had some very interesting valentine boxes come in this year!

Each one of them was very unique

and the kids were so excited and proud of their boxes.

They also were excited to deliver their valentines.

The kids were also busy going on a heart hunt.

Once they found the heart, they had to write it down in the right spot.

We were working on our balance 

as we tested out some hearts.

Which one is the heaviest?

They also tried to figure out how many heart jewels it took to balance other hearts.

It was quite the balancing act!

The kids also enjoyed measuring valentines.

They even measured their valentine boxes.

Nothing measures up to the fun the kids had with this activity!

We read this GREAT book called Have You Filled a Bucket Today?

We talked about what it means to be a "bucket filler" and not a "bucket dipper".

Then we set to work designing our very own bucket.

Look in the hallway to see our ideas on how to fill a bucket.

We were also busy filling buckets in another way.

One teammate pulled out a number.

The next person had to throw the number into the bucket.

Another friend cheered their teammate on.

We didn't always get it in the bucket.

But we sure had fun filling each other's buckets!

Making a graph using hearts was also on our agenda.

Some kids even made a graph by using the words on the hearts.

What else were we up to this week?

It was finally time for our Olympic event!

The kids worked hard.

Jumping...

running...

hurdling...

hula hooping...

and jump roping.

WHEW!  What a great job they did!

As a school, we used over $22, 000 for the American Heart Association. 

Thank you for your generosity!

We jumped right back to work...

We were busy hopping over words.

We put all the words together to make a sentence.

More olympic fun in the classroom as the kids played more hockey with words.

The hockey players had to aim for the goal that had the matching word on it.

Sometimes we missed.

Sometimes we got a goal!

Bobsled racing was also on the schedule for our Olympics.

Sometimes the sled got stuck.  :)

The kids also enjoyed making ski jumps.

They had to try to get the ping pong ball into the cup.

They made quite the ski jumps!

We checked off most of our fun adventures...

But there is still more to come!
