It was definitely a week worth cheering for!
Everything was stacked up for many learning adventures.
WOW! What a balancing act!
We started off October with a little bit of a mess
but they turned into some cute little pumpkins!
It sure did tickle though!
Some kangaroos helped us with our math activities this week.
First the kids lined up the kangaroos in the correct order.
Then one kindergartner pulled out a dot card.
They matched it up to the correct mommy kangaroo and gave her the right amount of joeys.
The kids also enjoyed hopping like kangaroos
through the alphabet obstacle course.
Every letter they landed on they had to say the name and the sound it makes.
Pastor Rouland led a very special chapel this week!
He brought his hilarious little friend Gary the puppet.
Together they reminded us about our baptismal birthdays.
A bunch of Cardinal fans showed up this week!
The kids also had a GREAT time working with keys and locks.
The locks all had letters on them.
The keys had pictures on them.
They had to figure out which key unlocked the right lock.
They wanted to play this game over and over again!
They also loved using old keys as pointers when they were reading.
They also enjoyed sorting old keys
and adding old keys.
They each have an old key that they wrote about. It should be in their Friday folder. They were VERY excited to take the key home with them!
The KEY to success... lot of smiles!
After reading this GREAT book about a dog named Groovy Joe
we had a little fun with ice cream.
First we had to match the rhyming ice cream cones.
The cone had to rhyme with the scoop of ice cream.
The kids also enjoyed getting a "scoop" of ice cream with a picture on it.
They had to match it to the cone with the letter that the picture started with.
Groovy Joe brought his friends with him.
The dinosaurs lifted their bowls...
SURPRISE! They had to write down whatever letter they found underneath their bowl.
More DOGGIE adventures continued
as we read If You Give a Dog a Donut.
The kid LOVED the challenge of putting the correct number of donuts into the 10 frame donut boxes.
The hard part was using the tweezers to do it!
This is a great fine motor challenge to help with pencil grip muscles.
The were very proud of themselves when they completed a card!
As we talked about the story of Joseph and his coat of many colors,
We were also working hard to get ready to tie-dye our own colorful t-shirts!
Everybody came up with their own unique way to rubber band their t-shirts.
The next day we got to work painting.
We were SO excited to create some masterpieces!
They each had a turn to go outside with Mrs. Helmkamp and Mrs. McBroom
to dye their shirts.
They each had a chance to pick a color for my shirt too!
Mmmm... I wonder what it will look like???
We can't wait to see how they all will turn out!
Back in the classroom, more dogs popped up!
This time those dogs were leaving paw prints everywhere.
They also helped us with our math as we had to put each dog in its own house.
The book The Dot encouraged us to make a mark and see where it takes us...
The kids had a BLAST creating with these yummy dots...
a.k.a MARSHMALLOWS!
Look at this "dot" necklace!
Look at this dot cube!
We also created some very colorful dots by rubbing two dots together.
Each dot turned out to be a masterpiece.
The kids couldn't believe how they turned out!
We also made some dot names!
The kids counted to see how many dots fit in each letter of their names.
We then played a little missing number game with our dogs.
The "teacher" took away a dog.
The students had to figure out which number was missing
and put that many dots in their ten frames.
Our dynamite week was just about over, but we had to sneak a peek at our tie-dyed shirts before we went home!
They each turned out so unique but so AMAZINGLY beautiful!
Three cheers for a GREAT week!
