A SOUPer Week!

We hope our week puts a smile on your face!

With a few days off, we were excited to see our friends.

Look what we can do when we build together!

We started off math by adding with musical instruments.

One friend played first.  The rest of the friends had to listen and count how many times they played.

The second friend had to play the number that added up to 10.
8 sounds   +    ____ sounds = 10 sounds.

Wednesday brought some TOOTH TROUBLE.

These tooth fairies were busy tracking down kids with dirty teeth!

The kids LOVED playing Tooth Fairy Tag!

The tooth fairies carried around their magic wands...

If you got tagged by the tooth fairy,

you had to go back "home" and brush your teeth!

Keep those teeth clean, or the tooth fairy might find you!

In music class, Mrs. Crumrine had the kids up and moving.

They are learning to keep the beat as they march.

Back in the classroom we were working hard to be tooth fairies.

We waved our magic wand and tried to find the matching sight words.

They had to listen carefully to find the right word.

In this game we had some very sleepy children!  They even snored...

as they waited for the tooth fairy to come.

The tooth fairy brought some money AND a little surprise with a hidden word on it!
Careful not to peek!

They were excited to wake up and find all of their money!!!

In the afternoon, we were busy painting with tooth brushes!

Some kids scrubbed those borders really good!

The kids also enjoyed adding money from the tooth fairy.

The tooth fairy delivered money to one special child.

The kids had to guess how much

by seeing how much was left on the table.

It was a tricky game, but the kids did great!

Ms. Steinbacher was back with another fun memory verse game!

The kids went back and forth with the words of the verse. If they were the last one to say a word, they had to sit down.

The last one standing was the winner!

We were so excited to end the day outside!

Look what these boys created together!  WOW!

More teamwork to make this little town full of adventures.

We had a very special chapel this week!

Trinity, Orchard Farm brought their whole school to share a very special message using the story of Green Eggs and Ham!

Here and there... we can share God's love EVERYWHERE!

Thanks for your generosity!
Then it was time to read Stone Soup.  This version is about two pigs who are weary from traveling. They happen upon a village that doesn't seem very inviting or kind.  Ask your children how the story ends!
The soup was on in our classroom too!

One friend delivered some special spoons to the soup pots.

Special delivery!

They had to read their spoon and write down the "recipe".

These stones were all mixed up.

The kids had to work together to put them in alphabetical order.

We ended our day with an entertaining, school-wide assembly!

A hilarious ventriloquist came and he brought some silly friends too!

They worked together to share the love of Jesus in a hilarious way!

I was told by the children this was "the best show they had ever seen"!

We finished the day with a sun-filled recess AND...

we found some familiar faces on the playground too!

It was a great way to end our day!

Another version of Stone Soup had our brains thinking!  We worked hard to compare and contrast the two stories.
Then it was time to have some more SOUPER adventures!
First each team got to pick out a stone for our soup.

Next came the water!

Then each child picked out an ingredient to add to the soup.

We added everything from peas to tomatoes!

The kids weren't so sure about those stones being in the soup!

We were also busy scooping up some alphabet soup!

The chef gave each child three letters.

The kids wrote down the letters and checked to see if they made a word.

We also had some "magical spoons" that helped us make real and nonsense words.

These head chefs were hard at work during our math lesson.

The head chef dumped some food into the first customer's bowl.

The "sous chef" got a little messy and used their hands to complete the order.

The order had to add up to 10.

They filled the second customer's bowl.

The banker made sure the customers had enough money to pay their bill.

The customers were SO excited to eat their yummy soup!

The cashier called the customers over to pay their bills.

They made sure the bill added up to 10 cents!
It was one SOUPER restaurant!
Then it was time to wheel our stone soup down to the kitchen to cook.
While we waited for our soup to cook, we enjoyed this hilarious story called Soup Opera!  Don't let your kids give away the surprise ending!
After it cooked all afternoon,

it was finally time to enjoy our soup!

The kids weren't so sure about eating the stones.

They discovered it was SO good they wanted seconds and even thirds!

Don't be surprised if they ask you to make it at your house!
We ended our short, fun-filled week with an AMAZING story from our Friday Reader.

It was a one of a kind, original story she wrote for her two children!

It was fantastic! We want a SEQUEL!
A SOUPer way to end our week!

Be watching for our next adventures...
